CITY OF HORICON PARK BOARD APRIL 9, 2014 The Park Board met in regular session with Chairperson Hady presiding. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. Members present: Susan Hady, Matt Wieneke, Joel Glawe, Mark Zuelsdorf, Jen Kruel (YMCA), Dan Laabs (Rec), Members absent: Kari Voy, Dave Magnussen (DPW) Others in attendance: Dan Buchner Motion by Wieneke, second by Glawe, to accept the previous meeting minutes as printed. All voting AYE. Motion carried. Public Appearances: Dan Buchner (Phoenix Group) Aquatic Center Report: Jen gave a report – Get a hold of Dave M about the Aquatic Center Flyers. They are finished and printed. May17th all staff training skills testing, practice mock drills, and presentation on safety. EMS from Beaver Dam gave an in depth CPR training. Staff learned weather spotting training. Starting in June Joc will be coming to the Park Board Meetings. Parks Report: No report given. Recreation Report w/attachment: Spring Summer program guide is still going and is winding down. Soccer program record 57 youth total. K – 2nd grade Flyaway soccer – Horicon Rec Program. Beaver Dam has a soccer field over by Prairie View. Small field soccer at the highschool. Tball registered is 19, could be more. Co-ed girls and boys - small groups. Boys baseball 14 youth probably won’t be done again. Family donated uniforms to the Rec Department. Discussion/Action Phoenix Group Activities for 2014: Jersey Street Festival Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, June 21st and Sunday June 22, 2014. Possibly 10 Teams this year, two of them to be split. Would like to use grassy part of the fields – conflict with other games. Will find out from Dave Magnussen regarding schedule differences. Discher Park setup at least four courts hopefully 16 teams. Motion by Glawe, second by Zuelsdorf, to approve Jersey Street Festival Volleyball Tournament on Saturday June 21st and Sunday June 22nd, 2014. All voting AYE. Motion carried. Motion by Wieneke, second by Glawe, to approve the Street Use Permit for Jersey Street Festival from Finch Street North to the last drive. All voting AYE. Motion carried. Motion by Wieneke, second by Zuelsdorf, to approve the overnight stay at Discher Park for the Jersey Street Festival for security with a maximum of four people and the use of the electric. All voting AYE. Motion carried. Update on Phoenix Group Discher Park Dance Hall: Gave to City Hall and waiting to hear from Dave Magnussen on progress. CITY OF HORICON PARK BOARD APRIL 9, 2014 Circuit breakers are needed in the Kiwanis Park Building, inside closet room. They are constantly tripping out. Motion by Glawe, second by Zuelsdorf, to approve getting bids on the project in getting this completed. All voting AYE. Motion carried. Discussion on Holiday Lights Display from the Phoenix Group at River Bend Park: Holiday Creations Wisconsin in Watertown would likely be doing the light display. They have recently done the Beaver Dam Hospital. Will be keeping this on the agenda for Park Board every month for further updates. Discussion/Action on Healthy Creations, LLC Contract for the Aquatic Center for 2014: In the future during the off season like to see the numbers that are involved in sales and possible rent of space. Motion by Zuelsdorf, second by Wieneke, to take the Phoenix Group agenda item out of order. All voting AYE. Motion carried. Non-action Discussion: Said goodbye to Matt Wieneke, we are all going to miss him. Next Meeting May 14th, 2014 at Discher Park by the bathroom area, weather permitting.
