VILLAGE OF HORTONVILLE PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION SEPTEMBER 12, 2024 MEETING MINUTES President Jeanne Bellile called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Center at 531 N. Nash St., Hortonville, Wisconsin. Members present: Tom Banker, Richard Gruenewald, Mike Bellile, Julie Arendt Vanden Heuvel, Ryan Hansch, and Roger Retzlaff. Members excused: Barry Hoff and Dave Moe Officials/Staff present: Administrator Nathan Treadwell, Clerk-Treasurer Jane Booth, and Building Inspector Paul Hanlon Approval of July 11 & August 8 meeting minutes Motion [Banker/Hansch] to approve the July 11 & August 8, 2024 meeting minutes. Roll call vote, 5 ayes, 1 abstain (Arendt Vanden Heuvel] 0 nays. Discussion and possible action regarding accessory buildings Administrator Treadwell said that that what we came up with was in the packet. Building Inspector Hanlon and I discussed the R-1 Single Family Accessory Building suggestions. If your house is 1,800 square feet your accessory building cannot exceed 1,800 square feet. An accessory building cannot be greater than the primary residence. Discussion ensued on the height of accessory buildings and what we should allow. We could change the setbacks according to the height of the building. The height of the accessory building shall not exceed the height of the primary residence. Proposed set back rules. Attached garage get one accessory building. Detached garage and no attached garage you would be allowed one Utility Building not to exceed 144 sq. ft. with still being under the 30% lot coverage. Green houses, pergolas, playsets, and gardens are still allowed. The board agreed that the sizes allowed were more than reasonable. Future discussion – continue with accessory buildings and materials. The next meeting will be on October 24 instead of October 10th at 6:00 pm. November 7th at 5:30 will be the meeting in November.
