VILLAGE OF HORTONVILLE Senior Activities Committee Meeting Minutes Thursday August 7, 2025 at 12:00 pm 1. Call to Order by Pat L-M at 12:01pm 2. Introductions as needed, N/A 3. Agenda Changes- 4. Approval of July 10, 2025 meeting minutes : Rose/Verna motion/second. Approved 5. Thank you cards for speakers and donors (signed during meeting) 6. Committee Member Terms/Nominations and scheduling Elections of Officers -tabled; Pat will e-mail committee with present members and their terms 7. Review of activities since last meeting July 14th: Coffee: Jenny Bonikowske spoke about native/pollinator plants and guided our walk on the trail. She came in to cover as our planned speaker (Shannon Bonnin) had a family medical emergency. July 21st: Birthday Bingo Bash: 72 people of all ages; may consider 2 shifts or pre- Registration. Discussion focused on whether this is a good setting for some seniors. August 4th: Potluck with Kali Kiehl, ADRC : small attendance, good information. Sound Issues, so important to move to other side when power-point is used. 8. Upcoming Activities August 11th: Coffee – presentation on hearing concerns, hearing aids; Rose: muffins August 18th: Field Trip to Green Bay Botanical Gardens; 10 paid so far, hope for more. Pat will work with Lauren on payment ahead of time for group/senior rate. September 8: Shannon Bolin, speaking about strokes—tentative, but hope it will work September 15th: Reed Schneider/Historical Society on 1974 Teacher’s Strike; Sarah will create a flyer. Open to public. We will provide refreshments. October 6th: Potluck, National German-American Day Holiday party-planning assignments (ie: entertainment, decorations, meal, funds, etc) Barbershop Quartet is available, waiting to hear if there is a fee before booking. Also, Consider Madrigal Singers through HHS if doesn’t work. Jane will check on possible Thrivent funding. 9. Communications: September/October Calendars and September Village Voice Article submitted. Flyer can be included in the mailing as well. 10. Autumn Fest Badger Talks follow-up: all set. PR information available to use if we would like it. Flyer prep for attendees: reviewed, corrections made. Pat will forward to Kaitlin to Include in Village Voice. Sponsorships update: Lauren will follow up with Gilbert’s regarding Gold Sponsorship Door prizes/baskets solicitation: solidify at September meeting; Jane offered to put baskets together. Decorations: Finalize at September meeting. Need disposable tablecloths Need to follow up with vendors regarding door prizes—indicate if for drawing or by their tables. 11. Community/Senior Center scheduling tours: Waupun, Waupaca, Clintonville: plan for after Autumn Fest 12. Items for Future Agendas Autumn Fest Community Center Field Trips/programs – Sarah is researching field trip to Epic Hdqtrs in Verona. Also suggested creating book marks from old books to distribute in the library. 13. Future meeting dates: September 11th, October 9th 14. Adjournment: Sarah/Jane Motion/Second to adjourn.
