PRESENTATIONS
1. Spring Volleyball Championship and Harry W. Montague Sportsmanship Award - Awards to be
presented by League Managers, Emily Richards and Yasmin Bravo.
2. Election of Chair and Vice-Chair– The annual election of Chair and Vice Chair will be conducted.
Chair Kreitz will oversee the election. Nominations for Chair will be accepted. After the Chair is
elected, the newly elected Chair will preside over the remainder of the Commission meeting, beginning
with the election of the Vice-Chair.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
The Community Services Commission welcomes public comments on all items either on this
agenda or of community interest. Three (3) minutes per person, time may not be donated to
others. Commission on this date can take no action on any item not on the agenda. This is
the time to address Commission regarding items of interest or agenda items other than
public hearing meetings.

ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS:
PUBLIC INPUT MEETING - Staff will present information on the Prop 68 Grant
Opportunities.
1. "Enhancing Our Parks", Prop 68 Funding Opportunities: In June of 2018, the State passed
Proposition 68, which included a Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program.
Based on priorities identified in the 2016 Parks & Recreation Master Plan, the City Council approved a
playground replacement priority list and grant funding criteria. The City is exploring grant opportunities
for improvements at the following parks: Carr Park: 16532 Springdale St, Drew Park: 20252 Cape
Cottage Ln and Schroeder Park: 6231 Cornell Dr. Projects being considered will focus on playground
upgrades, accessibility and landscape improvements. The Community Services Department will be
conducting a series of workshops and public meetings to garner input from residents.
Public Notice was provided through the WAVE newspaper, HBTV Channel 3, and mailings to residents
within 1000’ of Carr Park, Drew Park, and Schroeder Park. Once the staff presentation has concluded,
the Chair will open the meeting for public input. This is the time to address Commission regarding the
Prop 68 Grant item only. Three (3) minutes per person is allowed and time may not be donated to
others. Commission will take public input into consideration when reviewing the item for discussion.
INFORMATIONAL ITEMS
1. Rodgers Center Site Update - Community Service Director, Marie Knight, will provide an update on
the usage of the Rodgers Center over the past year and what is planned for the near future.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
1. Huntington Central Park Committee – Commissioner Kaub will provide an update on the July 10,
2019 Committee meeting.
2. Discuss the purpose of Ad Hoc Committees and the Potential Dissolution or Re-Organization of
Current Committees.

Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers, Civic Center, 2000 Main Street,
Huntington Beach, California.

the community services commission meetings at http://www.huntingtonbeachca.gov.
