others. Commission on this date can take no action on any item not on the agenda.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. Request approval of the July 20, 2022 meeting minutes.
ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS
1. Election of Chair and Vice-Chair – The annual election of Chair and Vice-Chair will be
conducted. Slama will oversee the election of Chair. Nominations for Chair will be
accepted from the floor. After the new Chair is elected, they will preside over the
remainder of the Commission meeting, beginning with the election of the Vice-Chair.
2. Naming the former Senior Outreach building at 17th Street Park and the central hallway
wall at the Senior Center in Central Park in recognition of Michael E. Rodgers.
Recommended Action:

A) Approve and make recommendation to City Council to dedicate the central hallway
wall at the Senior Center in Central Park in recognition of Michael E. Rodgers; and
B) Approve and make recommendation to City Council to formally name the former
Senior Outreach building located at 1718 Orange Avenue as Memorial Community
Hall; or
C) Approve and make recommendation to City Council to formally name the former
Senior Outreach building located at 1718 Orange Avenue as Veterans Community
Hall.
Alternative Action:
Do not approve the recommended actions and refer the naming and/or recognition back to the Park
Naming & Memorials Committee for further review.
3. 17th Street Park Identification Sign Installation – Staff is requesting approval from
Commission for the installation of a standard park identification sign at the recently
named, 17th Street Park.
Recommended Action:
Approve the installation of a new standard park identification monument sign for 17th Street Park, to be
located at the corner of 17th Street and Orange Avenue.
Alternative Action:
Do not approve installation of the sign and direct staff on how to proceed.
