The City welcomes public comments on agendized or non-agendized items, however, please
note that the Community & Library Services Commission can take no action on this date, unless
the item is agendized. Each speaker may have up to 3 minutes unless the volume of speakers
warrants reducing the time allowance and cannot donate time to others.
Individuals wishing to speak may do so in one of two (2) ways: 1. In-Person: Fill out a Request to
Speak form and deliver it to the Staff Liaison. Once the Chair opens Public Comments, in -person
participants will be called to speak first. 2. In Writing: Submit written comments via email to
cgomez@surfcity-hb.org by 1:00 PM on the day of the meeting. All written communications will be
forwarded to the Community & Library Services Commission and recorded as supplemental
communication.

24-363 Request approval of the April 10, 2024, meeting minutes.
PRESENTATIONS
Senior Center in Central Park Update - Introduction of new Sr. Supervisor, Bill Sandoval, who will
provide an update on the senior center activities.

24-364 Huntington Central Park 50th Jubilee Re-dedication Plaque - Staff is
requesting approval for the language and location of the Huntington
Central Park 50th Jubilee re-dedication plaque. The proposed
location is at the triangular junction where the main, most easterly
path, leads park visitors to and from the Library’s northeast parking
lot towards the bandstand, and where it merges with the path to and
from the “nature plateau” and Adventure Playground.
Recommendation:
Approval for recommendation to City Council the language and
location of the re-dedication plaque in recognition of Huntington
Central Park’s 50th Jubilee celebration.

COMMITTEE ITEMS
Park Naming & Memorials Committee (PNMC) – Staff is recommending that the PNMC
reconvene to review and make recommendation on the following action:
Huntington Central Park Nature Plateau - Formal naming of the area known as the Nature Plateau
in Huntington Central Park and potentially provide recommendation on an additional name to the
opportunities (i.e., past Mayor, other notable person, place, or thing) in accordance with
Resolution No. 2017-25. The area has been developed and beautified as a nature setting by the
Huntington Beach Tree Society volunteers. In order to utilize this area as a “point of interest” or
landmark within the park, staff is requesting the Committee review the item for official naming as
the Nature Plateau, understanding there is also the opportunity to add an additional name to the
official naming.
