Each speaker may have up to 3 minutes unless the volume of speakers warrants reducing the time allowance and cannot donate time to others. Individuals wishing to speak may do so in one of two (2) ways: 1. In-Person: Fill out a Request to Speak form and deliver it to the Staff Liaison. Once the Chair opens Public Comments, in -person participants will be called to speak first. 2. In Writing: Submit written comments via email to cgomez@surfcity-hb.org by 1:00 PM on the day of the meeting. All written communications will be forwarded to the Community & Library Services Commission and recorded as supplemental communication. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 24-363 Request approval of the April 10, 2024, meeting minutes. PRESENTATIONS Senior Center in Central Park Update - Introduction of new Sr. Supervisor, Bill Sandoval, who will provide an update on the senior center activities. Page 1 of 3 Community & Library Services AGENDA May 8, 2024 Commission ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS 24-364 Huntington Central Park 50th Jubilee Re-dedication Plaque - Staff is requesting approval for the language and location of the Huntington Central Park 50th Jubilee re-dedication plaque. The proposed location is at the triangular junction where the main, most easterly path, leads park visitors to and from the Library’s northeast parking lot towards the bandstand, and where it merges with the path to and from the “nature plateau” and Adventure Playground. Recommendation: Approval for recommendation to City Council the language and location of the re-dedication plaque in recognition of Huntington Central Park’s 50th Jubilee celebration. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS CIP Review & Project Updates: 1. Trinidad Park Playground Calendar of Events 1. Update on Jubilee Celebrations a. Log Cabin 100th Jubilee Celebration Recap b. Huntington Central Park 50th Jubilee Celebration – Save the Date of June 15, 2024 STAFF ITEMS (Not Agendized) COMMITTEE ITEMS Park Naming & Memorials Committee (PNMC) – Staff is recommending that the PNMC reconvene to review and make recommendation on the following action: Huntington Central Park Nature Plateau - Formal naming of the area known as the Nature Plateau in Huntington Central Park and potentially provide recommendation on an additional name to the opportunities (i.e., past Mayor, other notable person, place, or thing) in accordance with Resolution No. 2017-25. The area has been developed and beautified as a nature setting by the Huntington Beach Tree Society volunteers. In order to utilize this area as a “point of interest” or landmark within the park, staff is requesting the Committee review the item for official naming as the Nature Plateau, understanding there is also the opportunity to add an additional name to the official naming.
