TheMayorsaidtheChamberofCommercewouldholdtheannualTradeExpoattheFairgroundsonMarch6 andthatthe HuntsvillePoliceDepartmentwasacceptingapplicationsfortheirCitizenPoliceAcademy. Healsosuggestedallstart planningforthe7thAnnualE-wasteDay,from9-noononApril5attheRecyclingCenter. BenPruittandStacyLawlerspoke onthe firstannual ShotgunFredPirkleBBQShowdownattheFairgroundsfromnoon-4p.m. onMarch1 inhonorofFred  Pirkle,whowasa die-hardSHSUalumanddonated $25milliontoSHSUjustbeforehispassing. Theynotedofficialteams andjudgeswerecomingfromacrossthecountry (andpossiblyfromJapan). Mr.PruittthankedtheCityforitssupport, especiallytheMayor,StacyLawler, andPennyJoiner. CouncilmemberHumphreynotedtheHuntsvilleCommunityTheaterwasopening “Shadowlands” andseekingactorsforits nextproduction. SheaddedthattheSamHoustonFolkFestivalwasalsorecruitingfor2014. CouncilmemberBrauninger remindedallthatearlyvotinghadbegunandencouragedeveryonetoexercisetheirright. CouncilmemberHumphreythanked TerryStokesatSHSUHA/tchtechnologyincubatorfortherecentCounciltour,andtheMayorthankedJackSetterbergof WeatherfordforhisandJohnnyDeBaugh’s presentationandforhelpingcelebrateEngineer’sWeek. 10.
