theSeries2004CertificatesofObligationandwassecondedbyCouncilmember Johnson. Themotionpassed
unanimously, 9-0.

amendbystriking $250,000andinserting $49,600.00andwassecondedbyCouncilmemberBrauninger. Themotion
failed,8-1,CouncilmemberAllenvotinginsupport. Themotionpassed, 8-1,CouncilmemberAllenvotingagainst.

generators.

Counciltoconsiderasaggingpantsordinance.
WalterJohnsonspokeinsupportofasaggingpants ordinanceandWalterBoyd,Sr.saidhedidnotbelieveitwas
somethingthatcouldbelegislated.

Therewerenomediainquiries.
9. ITEMSOFCOMMUNITYINTEREST
HearannouncementsconcerningitemsofcommunityinterestfromtheMayor,Councilmembers, andCitystafffor
whichnoactionwillbediscussedortaken.)
MayorWoodwardmadethefollowingannouncements:
TherewillbeafoodandclothingdriveonAugust25from1-5 p.m.atthepoolatTheConnectiontobenefittheGood
ShepherdMission. Admissionisacannedfooditem.
TheHeartWalkwillbeheldonSaturday, September27from9-11a.m.attheSHSUstadium. ContactKarenBilsingat
291-3411formoreinformation.
ThefirstmeetinginOctoberissetforOctober7,thesamenightasTexasNationalNightOut. Iwouldliketoproposethat
theCouncilmeetingbeginat5p.m.,sothatwecanpotentiallyfinishearlyandallowCouncilmemberstoattendNational
NightOutevents. (Eventswillbe2-5p.m.attheTargetcenter,thenparadesorpartieswithneighborhoodassociations.

Additionally, ithasbeenthepracticeofthelastseveralyearstomovetheCouncilmeetingthatfallsonthefirstTuesdayof
November,asitiselectionnight,thisyearNovember4. Iwouldliketoproposethesamethisyear,cancellingtheNov.4
meetingandholdingthesecondregularmeetingdateinNovember,whichwillbeNovember18. Duetoachangeinthe
ElectionCode,theCitymayalsoconductitselectioncanvassonthatdate.
TheStateoftheCityaddresswillbeheldagaininOctober, probablyOctober21.
SHSUwillplaythefirstfootballgameoftheNCAAyearonESPNandremindedalltobeawareofeveryonestartingback
toschool
CouncilmemberHumphreyremindedallthatSHSUAllPawsInwillbeMarch7,2015andthatthewholecommunitywasbeing
invitedtoparticipate. MayorWoodwardconfirmedthetaxrateandbudget passagewereanticipatedto beadoptedon
September16. WalterBoyd,Sr.laudedPearland’sLittleLeagueteamfortheirsuccesses.
