IDAHO FALLS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION Regular Meeting Thursday, September 7, 2017 4:00 p.m., Annex Conference Room Minutes Attending: Roll Meeting called to order: Minutes: None Timecards: All timecards have been turned in. There will be an additional timecard for the Idaho Heritage Conference. The Preservation Idaho Tour should not be included on timecards. Questions about the Idaho Heritage Conference: Conference starts Wednesday evening (social hour) and goes Thursday-Friday. Saturday is the tour. The next Sunday is the home tour. Discuss Historic Preservation Plan Public Outreach: Brent asked the Commission what questions they would like to ask the public and what information would the Commission like to give the public. Brent has reached out to the stakeholders and that is going fairly well. Brent will forward a list of stakeholders to the Commission. The first thing to come up with are goals. Brent ask that an e-mail thread go around to share ideas. Discuss 383 N Placer: Brent was hoping John was at the meeting. He would like to do some updates for easy maintenance, but still keep the designation of the property. He wanted to come and talk to the group to know what he should and shouldn’t do. He mentioned putting siding up, but Brent told him don’t do it. He also wants to upgrade windows. Commission discussed the type of windows he could install. It needs to be a one over one and the wood needs to match. The perimeter and frames need to match in width. He has a wood storm on the front. John at Johnson Brothers could tell him what his options are. He could even just keep the front and change the sides and back. There was discussion regarding a brochure to give him. Brent will make the brochure digital. Brent will visit with John and let him know what his options. He would like to make it low maintenance because he is an older gentleman. He may need to contact Stephanie Rose and have someone that she has trained go over and do a proper prep and paint and it would be an equivalent cost to siding. The condition of the roof is unknown. Roundtable Discussion: Brent submitted the draft of the original town site brochure to Pete and it was rejected because there are no properties in the area that are listed or on the register, there is no district or surveys. Will print some more of the 11th street brochures so that the money is not wasted. The project was started before Pete came on and they were aware that there was no district. They will not accept existing surveys because they are too old. Will revisit in the future and try again. The walking tour was more context than architecture.
