COMPHREHENSIVE & STRATGIC MASTER PLAN – P. HOLM
P. Holm reviewed the September 10th meeting and the interviews which resulted in
Pro’s Consulting being chosen as the firm we will work with on the Comprehensive &
Strategic Master Plan. One of the reasons they were chosen was their heavy emphasis
on CAPRA Accreditation. He explained that he attended a seminar at the recent NRPA
convention on CAPRA Accreditation that was led by Neelay Bhatt, the Pro’s Consulting
Project Manager. Neelay Bhatt lectured on the necessity of having the Mayor and City
Council behind Parks and Recreation Departments who are striving to get the
accreditation. There will also need to be a collaboration with other City Departments in
several areas; for example, ADA Accessibility. The City policies will also need to align
with today’s best practices.
PROJECT APPROACH – G. WEITZEL
G. Weitzel reviewed thee seven tasks recommended by Pro’s Consulting. He discussed
the Kick-off meeting which is task #1. He advised that there is no date set yet, but that
he expects it to be held within the next four to five weeks.
He discussed what will be expected from the commissioners going forward. He advised
that they will be the Steering Committee on this project and will need to identify and list
stakeholders who will be relevant. They will also need to get public input, then develop
a list of projects and decide how to prioritize this list.
He also discussed the upcoming projects in the next year or two apart from the Master
Plan.
He advised we will send out a Doodle Poll to try and find a good date for the
commissioners for the Kick-Off meeting.
