September 13th Board Meeting: Dave discussed the decisions made at the board meeting. Misty had requested the hosting points for her family be split between her family and Ness’s family since they shared in the work of hosting. The board agreed this was fair. The Matranga family had hosted students in the past and had points from previous years. The board decided to give David the 10 points for being a member able to go to Japan and not going. To make up for the monetary value of the points the Matranga’s will not be charged for hosting activities they participated in this year. Dave explained that families with more than one student can let the board know how they want the points distributed between their students. If the parents do not tell the board differently, parents’ points will be distributed equally between students. 501c Tax Status: The city comptroller said the city is qualified for the 501c status. Our group is part of a city committee and we are qualified for 501c status. Library Display: Dave suggested putting Sister Cities’ items in a display at the library. The group needs to put a proposal together if we would like to have a Sister Cities display with gifts from Tokai-mura at the library. Japanese Lessons: Junko is willing to provide Japanese lessons to groups of 5-6 students for $15 and hour plus a small per student cost. The group decided to wait to decide on times for the lessons.
