City Councils’ Discussion on the Sister Cities Idaho Falls and Tokai-Mura
David Eaton reported that the city is in general agreement for a hybrid approach. It is
anticipated that the city will still allocate approximately the same amount of money, but that the
city will reimburse approved expenditures rather than transferring the money. There will be a
Sister City Committee whose role is still being defined. .
Fundraisers
Winter Carnival
Whitney St. Michel hasn’t been in formal communication with the manager of the skating rink
about cancelling the 2020 Ice Carnival and reserving our fundraiser for December 2021.
Selling Calendars
McKenzie McIsaac suggested selling calendars. She took pictures of flowers and created a
calendar. She suggested selling the calendars at $12.50. The group discussed the pros and
cons of selling calendars. A vote was taken: Yays=13, Nays=7, Unsure=1.
The group discussed the number of calendars we could sell. If we order fifty calendars it will
cost IFSCY $300.00. If the group sells each calendar for $10.00 the group would break even
after selling thirty calendars. McKenzie McIsaac will have them printed and David Eaton offered
to deliver the calendars. Students/families should anticipate trying to sell 3-6 calendars each.
Required Meeting Attendance
David Eaton reminded students that attending 50% of the meetings is a requirement to be
eligible for going to Tokai-Mura for July 2021.
