to send to the Adult and Youth Sister City groups in Tokai-Mura. She will order enough for
IFSCY members who attend the 40th Anniversary Celebration. Please let Kendra know if you
will be attending the 40th Anniversary Celebration as soon as possible so that she can report
the number of people going to Cindy Ozaki.
Field Trip
Jackie Sugai sent an email to the person in charge of Minidoka Internment Camp. However
as of today she has not heard anything back. She will follow up on this and report at the July
7th meeting.
Volunteering at the Happyville Farm
Whitney and Anna St. Michel will talk with the master gardener at the Happyville Farm.
Whitney will have more information on dates and times by the July 7th meeting.
Meetings at IF Public Library
Kendra Peck stated that the Idaho Falls Public Library is not scheduling the meeting rooms
at this time. There is no date set when the meeting rooms will open.
IFSCY 40th Anniversary Celebration
Nathan Peck and McKenzie McIsaac will continue to meet to put together a video as well as
a presentation from the collection of pictures for the 40th Anniversary Celebration.. They have
several pictures from 2015 exchange here in Idaho Falls. They are working on getting pictures
from the IFSCY’s first year which was in 1984. Jorge Padron will oversee the presentation.
The finished product will need to be sent to Tokai mura by July 1, 2021 in order for the
presentation to be translated.
Recruitment
Idaho Falls Youth groups numbers have been decreasing due to members aging out. Ideas
to generate student interest in IFSCY are: invite a friend to go on the Minidoka field trip, invite
friends to help with service projects (raking Friendship Garden), placing a flyer at the Idaho Falls
and surrounding areas public libraries, advertise on social media and make it a public page with
images of Idaho Falls students’ experiences in pictures to Tokai Mura.
Carter Thompson will set up a public Facebook page that will allow more people to access
the group. However, maintenance of the Facebook site will continue to need to be updated on a
continuous basis. A volunteer from our group will be needed.. For those who know how to do
so, please contact Carter Thompson or the student body.
Student Activities
Several students were not able to attend tonight’s meeting. Therefore, no student activities
took place.
Motion to Adjourn
Nathan Peck motioned to adjourn the meeting. It was seconded by Kylie Eaton.
