WAR BONNET ROUNDUP RODEO ADVISORY COMMITTEE Thursday, July 22, 2021 Bank of Idaho 11:00 a.m. Members in Attendance: K. Jones, K. Staten, J. Newgard, K. Searle, B. Skinner, P. Holm, H. Pettingill, R. Campbell, R. Buchan, T. Kraupp Members not in Attendance: D. Marshall, T. Shay, C. Horsley, B. Cranor, T. Shay, D. Sorensen Call to Order J. Newgard called the meeting to order at 11:00 Approval of Minutes B. Skinner motioned to approve the July 22nd minutes. K. Jones seconded. Director Report – P. Holm  P. Holm distributed the current War Bonnet Ticket Allocation and Give-A-Way parameters. There was board discussion on whether anything needed adjusted. It was agreed that if one person worked on more than one committee or association, that person would not receive tickets allotted for both. B. Skinner motioned to accept the proposed ticket allocation. K. Jones seconded. All in favor.  P. Holm is writing up the letter that will be given to all the National Anthem singers. Each singer will receive two general admission tickets. He confirmed the sound check, if needed, will be at 4:00pm for the singers. H. Pettingill will advise the singers where to report to upon their arrival at the arena.  P. Holm reminded committee members to get their ticket numbers into him or T. Sessions as quickly as possible. Chair Report – J. Newgard (no chair report given) Action Items Volunteer of the Year – P. Holm  P. Holm passed out ballots to each committee member with the Volunteer of the Year nominations. After the count, Rick Staten was declared the winner. Committee Reports Military Affairs/American Legion – B. Skinner  B. Skinner has received confirmation on the armored Humvee and a decorated soldier who has returned after being deployed in Iraq.  He is still finalizing who will be placed in the coach and the names will be given to K. Jones.  The rifle stocks have been delivered to the engraver. Hospitality/Sponsorships – K. Staten  K. Staten is preparing swag bags and asked the committee for suggestions on items to put in them, and advised what has already been collected.  The contestant food is lined up. There will be breakfast burritos and coffee at slack. They will receive dinner on the other evenings as well as energy drinks, protein bars, and water through-out. There was board discussion on options for food and it was decided that aside from being given the choice to get burgers from Legion, we will provide fried chicken, salads, rolls, etc. in the contestant tent.  The programs are done and K. Staten was able to delete sixteen pages.  Our special promotions for the rodeo start soon, like our football kick contest and ticket give-a-way.  She confirmed Shelby and Andrea will volunteer with the tribe when T. Shay is unavailable. Livestock Welfare – K. Searle  K. Searle advised that some of the stock arrived Monday, June 19th.  He gave the current rodeo participants: 47 – Bareback 24 – Saddle Bronc 32 – Bull riders 61 - Calf Roping 61 – Steer Wrestling 46 - Team Roping 82 Barrel Racing Break-a-way (hasn’t opened yet)  He’s lost a couple volunteers and Bart Stolworthy won’t be able to work due to surgery. Marketing & Advertising – P. Holm The new billboards with dates and Teton logo are going up now. Facilities/Grounds & Security – R. Campbell  The trenches for the fiber are being completed.  The arena set up begins Monday, July 26th. Media/Emergency Action Plan – B. Cranor (absent)  Per P. Holm, B. Cranor has stories lined up for Local News 8 and East Idaho News. Youth Rodeo/Family Night – C. Horsley (absent)  R. Buchan reported for C. Horsley that mutton-bustin’ is full on Friday and Saturday and almost full for Thursday. Shoshone Bannock Tribes – T. Shay (reported by e-mail)  He e-mailed PJ a list of the confirmed and non-confirmed riders, drummers and dancers.  He confirmed the teepee and vendors.  He will be unable to attend the Friday and Saturday night show. Production/Royalty – K. Jones  K. Jones reported the ticket sales numbers from the website. They are high. Financial Report – D. Sorensen (absent) Adjournment B.
