Director Updates – P. Holm
Skeeter Smith Recognition.
• Skeeter Smith passed away recently, and the committee discussed ways to recognize his
years of service to the War Bonnet. B. Skinner gave some history on Skeeter Smith and
his family and their dedication to the rodeo. The Committee discussed and agreed that
K. Jones will work a tribute into production.
War Bonnet Ticket Prices
• R. Buchan prepared a detailed spreadsheet showing two different ticket price options
which will include parking. She also charted the approximate number of tickets sold for
adults and children for all three nights of the 2022 rodeo, and how many of those sold
tickets were scanned at the gate. After review of the figures, K. Staten motioned to
change the Thursday, Friday tickets to $22.00 each, and the Saturday tickets to $27.00
each. B. Skinner seconded. All in favor and motion carried.
• The committee discussed improving attendance for the Thursday and Friday night shows.
It was suggested by K. Staten that all give-a-way tickets be for Thursday.
Rodeo Contestant Awards
• P. Holm proposed a potential switch from rifles to buoy knives, or custom tomahawks. It
was suggested that the Bannock Shoshone tribe might be interested in making a custom
prize. B. Skinner reminded the committee that some contestants choose our rodeo solely
to try and win a rifle. K. Jones suggested a gift certificate for a custom rifle. After further
discussion it was decided to table the discussion until February’s meeting.
Specialty Act
• The committee discussed specialty acts and the expectations of our audience. It was
debated if a high energy specialty act is needed, versus only having the clown/barrelman.
There was also discussion of confirming the booking of Felix Santana and it was agreed to
move forward with Felix unless a better specialty act is found.
Introduction of New Board Member
• P. Holm introduced Tanner Fonnesbeck who (pending City Council approval in February)
will become our newest Committee member.
Chairman/Production – K. Jones
Action Item: Vote for Chair and Vice Chair

Skinner nominated K. Jones for Chairman, and K. Staten for Vice Chairman. B.
Robertson seconded. All in favor. Motion carried.

of the Year award.
• K. Jones discussed the PRCA Convention, and the successful networking it provided.

Committee Reports
Military Affairs/American Legion – B. Skinner
• The military segment for the War Bonnet is in the works and it will be the same as we he
had planned it for 2022 which was rained out.
• B. Skinner reported on PRCA information including the PRCA memberships increasing
(now that Covid is over), and permit numbers are up. He advised that the PRCA is aware
that turnouts are a problem, and they are looking for solutions. He discussed a PRCA
Youth Camp and suggests we gather more information on this. He also advised of pending
