JOHNSON CONSERVATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES FEBRUARY 19, 2026 Present: Lois Frey, Sue Lovering, Noel Dodge, Dean Locke, Adrian Schmidt Absent: Peter Hammond, Justin Hennard The January minutes were approved with the following changes: • Wetland rules are updated when surveys are done • Re Gomo Town Forest: only a small portion of the land is to be conserved as ag soil. TREASURER’S REPORT There will be no cut to our budget this year. Our budget balance stands at roughly $4000. MARCH GLADNESS SNOWSHOE HIKE Twelve enthusiastic trekkers, including some new folks, came out on a cold morning to hike on the NVU trails. Adrian took pictures and reports that everybody had fun. Since the date set for the next snowshoe hike coincides with the Caledonia County Biathlon, the date has been changed to March 28, from 9-11:00. The location will be announced. BLACK ASH PROJECT There has been no word from Eric Nuse regarding his proposed project. POLLINATOR GARDENS The grant report that funded them is due in May and Lois will need pictures for illustration. Sue will send her some. To finish the project, signs will be installed in the spring. HOLMES MEADOW Lowering the ground level is about finished. That they removed all the trees remains a mystery, but those will be replaced with new plantings. The soil has been moved to the library lot. MISC • Mollie Flanagan will attend our March meeting. • Re: land for sale that borders Journey’s End: it’s still for sale. We haven’t given upon the River Conservancy buying it. Adjourned at 7:00 in order to attend the ongoing selectboard meeting. Next meeting is on Thursday, March 19, at the municipal building at 6:30. Submitted by Sue Lovering, Secretary.
