Johnson Historical SPECIAL Society Meeting 16 July 2025 at 9AM Holcomb House Present: Dick Simays, Alice Whiting, Kelly Vandorn, Linda Jones, Mary Jean Smith, Mike Dunham and Lois Frey. Guests: Tom Carney, Don Garrett & Tom Galinat (Town Administrator.) Call to Order: Dick Simays called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM. Review agenda & make adjustments or additions: There was one addition to the agenda: filming assistance. Filming assistance: Mary Jean Smith announced that Ayrk Tomlinson has agreed to video tape and edit JHS programs. He will meet (after July 21, 2025) with Mary Jean and hopefully Jacob Vandorn to learn the ins and outs of the process. Discuss Holcomb House electrical situation: The Holcomb House was left with partial electrical service which was discovered on July 9, 2025 when the Board of Trustees gathered for their monthly meeting. Dick Simays notified Tom Galinat. Following an inspection of the entire building with an electrician from Local Electric and a Village of Johnson Water & Light employee, it was determined that a lightning strike (most likely in the July 7, 2025 storm) hit the house wiring causing a failure in the meter socket. Dick was told there was a 30 day fix-it time-line. Therefore, this special JHS meeting was called to address the situation. Following discussion, it was determined that: 1) VLTC Insurance needs to be contacted to determine financial coverage. Tom will file. 2) New entrance should be 200 amps. 3) There were several options for repair that can be considered when working with an electrician. 4) Three potential vendors where identified: Wayne’s Electric, Local Electric, and 802 Electric. 5) Dick Simays has electrical experience and represents the JHS Trustees very effectively.
