Library Trustee Meeting

Johnson Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes, March 11th, 2026 Temporary Library Space in the Masonic Temple Present: Aurora River, Library Director. Board Members: Kelly Vandorn, Suzanne Dodge, Eric Schulz, Trista Tallman Absent: Jasmine Yuris 1. Call to Order: Kelly called the meeting to order at 6:02 pm. 2. Adjustments or Additions to the Agenda: None 3. Welcome Trista 4. Review and Approve minutes from February 11th, 2026 meeting. Kelly moved to accept, Suzanne seconded, all in favor. 5. Treasurer’s Report: a. Suzanne reported approximately $1,400 in donations received and the GoFundMe is around $1,700. b. Kelly asked Suzanne to check on endowments and provide an update at next month’s meeting. 6. Librarian’s report – Aurora a. Aurora emailed a librarian’s report to board members prior to meeting for review. This was reviewed and discussed. The report shows multiple statistics that are being manually recorded and reported. b. This report also included an Inter-Library Loan Agreement for new patrons to read and sign when they sign up for a new library card. The goal of this agreement is to provide users with clear guidelines for this service. c. Aurora showed the board the calendar for March’s library activities. Aurora asked about updating the website with the calendar. Currently Adrienne is doing updates in a volunteer capacity. Aurora will reach out to Adrienne. 7. Progress Report of New Library – Eric  a. Eric noted that he thought the walls were nearing completion. The construction would likely follow an order of deck -> walls -> trusses. 8. Grant Updates - Kelly a. Kelly and Jeanne submitted grant applications last week and are working on another that is due later this month. b. Johnson’s Town Administrator, John Sutherland, submitted an application for Congressionally Directed Spending. 9. Fundraising Status Report – Kelly a. Jasmine met with potential donors. These discussions will continue this week. b. Aurora suggested reaching out to the Eagles and will pass contact information to Kelly. 10. Election of Officers a. The board discussed the open positions and the responsibilities. Kelly suggested keeping all positions the same with Trista taking over the Secretary position in Sabrina’s absence. Eric motioned, Suzanne seconded, all in favor. i. Chair – Kelly Vandorn ii. Vice Chair – Jasmine Yuris iii. Treasurer – Suzanne Dodge iv. Facilities – Eric Schulz v. Secretary – Trista Tallman 11. Old Library Land a. Kelly noted that the Selectboard has been discussing selling the land where the library used to be located. b. Questions posed: i. Would the proceeds go toward the library project? ii. Does the library board/library director get to participate in the sale? (Knowing the terms of the sale, sale prices, etc.) c. The board agreed that the Selectboard can sell the land, if the library gets to review the sale. 12. Bond vs. Phased Building Information - a. Kelly met with Catherine Delneo (State Librarian). The meeting went well. There is a possibility that the deadline can be adjusted.  b. Catherine noted that there is the possibility of a phased approach to completing the project. Brian is not in favor of this approach; it will add time and cost to the project. c. Another option posed is a one-year bond to complete the project. i. There is a Selectboard meeting on Monday, March 16th. Available library trustees will be in attendance. 13. Unfinished Business – None. 14. Adjourn.
