JOHNSON SKATEPARK & BIKE TRACK COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
JOHNSON MUNICIPAL BUILDING / REMOTE ATTENDANCE BY ZOOM
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2025
Present:
Committee Members: Casey Romero, Howard Romero, Alexis Daniels, George Swanson (via Zoom)
Absent: Greg Fatigate
Note: All votes taken are unanimous unless otherwise noted.
1. Call to Order
Casey called the meeting to order at 5:38.
2. Prospective Committee Members: Introductions, Discussion
The prospective members were not present.
3. Minutes of October 8, 2025
Alexis moved to approve the minutes of October 8, 2025, Howard seconded and the motion was
passed.
4. Preliminary Budget Work
Casey said she reviewed budget information with Tom Galinat this afternoon. We are asked to ensure
that our proposed FY27 budget has an increased tax burden of no more than 2.8% over the FY26 tax
burden. She gave Tom some figures. Revenue added up to $950 and proposed expenses added up to
$5,730. That works out to a 2.8% increase. She is hoping that we can get some income from the Let’s
Roll program in the upcoming year. That is included in her revenue figure. She reviewed what she had
budgeted for expenses. To reach the maximum percentage increase Tom gave her, we can add $30 to
one budget line. The committee agreed to add it to site maintenance supplies.
George moved to approve the proposed FY27 budget in the amount of $5,730. Alexis seconded
and the motion was passed.
Casey said she needs to meet with Rosemary Audibert to find out the status of our reserve fund.
5. FEMA: Concrete Project Update
Casey said there is still no word from FEMA about approving doing the construction next year.
Howard asked if we are still planning to do it this fall. Casey said no.
6. Laraway Report
George said the Laraway garden is harvested. Students did some apple cidering. Now they are getting
ready for ski season. He will retire from the Laraway administration in June. He will still be at
Laraway a couple of days a week. The Laraway greenhouse is up and running. It was completely
remodeled. Students will start plants earlier this year. The orchard that was planted 4 years ago is
doing well. It has 23 apple trees.
7. Site Maintenance: Water Line, Other Issues
Casey described the town accounting policy and process issues still to be discussed with the
selectboard and Rosemary Audibert. Howard and Alexis were surprised to learn that the new yard
hydrant for the Community Garden was paid for by the skatepark budget, along with all water line
excavation. Casey has asked for this topic to be on the upcoming selectboard meeting agenda, and has
requested information from Tom Galinat re: ideas he had in October for a future repair.
8. Other Business
Howard will return the Burton pop-up canopy to the wood storage shed.
9. Adjourn
The meeting was adjourned by consensus at 6:05.
