Page 1 of 1  City of Kalispell Post Office Box 1997 - Kalispell, Montana 59903-1997 Telephone (406) 758-7700 Fax - (406) 758-7758 MEMORANDUM To: Members of the EMS Subcommittee From: Doug Russell, City Manager Re: EMS delivery options Meeting Date: July 16, 2019 BACKGROUND: During budget discussions regarding Emergency Medical Services, the City Council requested reconvening the EMS subcommittee to discuss options related to soliciting requests for proposals for the provisions of these services. This follows from previous efforts to address the fiscal challenges in funding this service. Previous efforts have included a levy election that failed to pass, revamping the rate schedule, and various activities to facilitate efficiencies within the operations. The operation continues to require a transfer from the general fund in order to meet financial requirements of the operations, prompting the discussion during budget sessions. At a previous EMS subcommittee meeting in June, several questions were posed regarding benchmarks related to operational standards, etc., in other communities. At the meeting on the 16th, we will update council on information received related to these areas. RECOMMENDATION: It is anticipated the EMS Subcommittee will further discuss the options related to a solicitation of services.
