COUNCIL CHAMBERS-CITY HALL
AUGUST 20, 2024 -7:00 P.M.
The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session August 6, 2024 at 7:00 P.M.
Roll call was answered by: Mayor Lance Waters, Council Member Shari Targgart, Council Member Corey Boese,
and Council Member Christopher McCreery. Council Member Amy Ballard, Council Member Tara Streb, and
Attorney Jacob Atz were absent.
Others present were: Katie Ritchie, April Waters, Maya Collins, Larry & Janice Leighty, Katelyn Raasch- Meyer,
Rhea Scott, Dan Leighty, Connie Leighty, Diane Leighty, Scott Derby, Matt Getts- KPC, and Jeremy McKinley.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance.
MINUTES/ MEETING
Minutes from the August 6, 2024 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Member Corey
Boese made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Shari Targgart. The motion passed 3 ayes –
0 nays.
PETITIONS OR COMMENTS
No petitions or comments were given.
MAYOR
The July 10, 2024 Aviation Minutes were presented for review.
Trick or Treat
Council Member Shari Targgart made a motion to name 2024 Trick or Treating date Saturday, November 2, 2024
from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. with a second from Council Member Corey Boese. The motion passed 3 ayes – 0
nays.
ENGINEERING
The July 2024 Solar Report was presented for review.
FIRE
The July 2024 Fire Report was presented for review.
POLICE
Retired Crossing Guard Connie Leighty Plaque Presentation
Chief of Police and Mayor Lance Waters presented Connie Leighty with a plaque for her years of service to the
City as Crossing Guard. Connie recently retired this school season.
The July 2024 Police Report was presented for review.
ALLOWANCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS
Council Member Shari Targgart presented bills and claim numbers 77301 through 77409 for $893,673.48 for
approval. Council Member Shari Targgart made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by
Council Member Corey Boese. The motion passed 3 ayes-0 nays.
MOTION TO ADJOURN
Council Member Shari Targgart made a motion to adjourn the meeting with a second from Council Member
Corey Boese. Mayor Lance Waters adjourned the meeting at 7:08 P.M.
