JUNE 3, 2025 -7:00 P.M.
The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session June 3, 2025 at 7:00 P.M.
Roll call was answered by: Mayor Lance Waters, Council Member Amy Ballard, Council Member Corey Boese,
Attorney Jacob Atz, and Council Member Christopher McCreery .Council Member Shari Targgart and Council
Member Tara Streb were absent.
Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Scott Derby, Matt Getts- KPC News, Jim Dazey, Doug Atz, Shafter Baker,
Patrick Howell, John Dixon, Jeremy McKinley, and Brian Strange.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance.
MINUTES/ MEETING
Minutes from the May 20, 2025 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Member
Christopher McCreery made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Corey Boese. The motion
passed 3 ayes – 0 nays.
PETITIONS OR COMMENTS
Council Member Amy Ballard encouraged everyone at the meeting to go to kendallvilleplan.com and partake in a
survey regarding the comprehensive plan for the City of Kendallville Plan Commission.
Mayor Lance Waters informed everyone attending that a town hall meeting will take place on Tuesday June 17,
2025 at 6:30 P.M. in regards to wastewater rates increasing. The meeting is opened to the public and all city
residents are encouraged to come. This meeting will take place in the Council Chambers.
MAYOR
The April 2025 Humane Shelter Report was presented for review.
PARK
The May 12, 2025 Park Board minutes were presented for review.
OLD BUSINESS
Special Ordinance #1596/ Establish Community Development Fund – 3rd Reading
Council Member Corey Boese requested the reading of Special Ordinance #1596 in title only. Attorney Jacob Atz
read Special Ordinance #1596 in title only. Council Member Corey Boese made a motion to approve with a
second from Council Member Amy Ballard. Council Member Christopher McCreery asked a series of questions
regarding the functionality of the fund for clarification. The motion passed 3 ayes – 0 nays.
ALLOWANCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS
Council Member Amy Ballard presented bills and claim numbers 79365 through 79480 for $802,991.98 for
approval. Council Member Amy Ballard made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by Council
Member Corey Boese. Council Member Christopher McCreery asked questions regarding the ordinance violation
mowing in town. The motion passed 3 ayes-0 nays.
MOTION TO ADJOURN
Council Member Corey Boese made a motion to adjourn the meeting with a second from Council Member Amy
Ballard. Mayor Lance Waters adjourned the meeting at 7:15 P.M.
