Ron Witham, Skatepark. Public Comments: None were given. Minutes of the meeting of January 11, 2021 were approved as presented. (Button / Nartker) Claims were reviewed and approved as presented. (Blackman / Zollman) Bixler Lake Campground Caretaker Contract: The Board voted unanimously to have Steve Walters return as the Bixler Lake Campground Caretaker. (Button / Zollman) Wayne Township Authorization of Contract: The Board voted unanimously to approve the yearly contract with Wayne Township for the amount of $12,500.00. (Nartker / Zollman) Ron Witham informed the Board that soil borings have been completed at the Sunset Park and Sherman Street proposed sites. Sunset Park looks promising while the Sherman Street site does not. The findings will be sent to Hunger Skateparks for review. Ron mentioned that the next steps will be design and zoning. Directors Report: Highlights 1. Reviewed the Appropriation Report from the Clerk Treasurer. 2. Reported that the Annual Report for the Kendallville Park and Recreation Department is finished. 3. The Board learned that staff is working on a grant to do Prairie Restoration at Sunset Park North East. 4. Reported that staff had a meeting with David Brown to discuss moving forward on the Campground renovation project. David will work on getting us drawings that can serve to acquire budgetary pricing for the project. Maintenance Report: Highlights 1. Finished large painting project at the Youth Center. 2. Helped Street Department with snow removal. 3. Finished cleaning up park after ice and snow storm. We have nine large stumps that will have to be ground out. 4. Cleaned primed and painted dump bed on 1999 F350 truck. Working on summer daycamp plans, arranging field trips and activities. 2. Finished and submitted a Phase II Endowment Grant and hope to have additional information regarding fundraising for this in the near future.
