Minutes of the January 10, 2022 meeting were approved as presented. (Tipton, Zollman) Claims were reviewed and approved as presented. (Zollman, Tipton) Skatepark Discussion: Diane Peachy informed the board that the skatepark zoning change was approved at the Planning Commission. It will be presented at City Council this week and if all goes well should be passed and the group can move forward with planning and fundraising starting in March. The skatepark contract was given to Doug Atz to look over and after some changes will be sent to Hunger Skatepark for approval. Directors Report: Highlights 1. It was reported that the maintenance barn on Sherman Street has significant concerns with the rafters splitting and sagging. The roof has been jacked up and Dave Lange and Strawser Brothers have looked at it and will determine the best way to fix it. Park budget will not have enough money to cover the repairs so money from the non-reverting fund might need to be used. 2. Discussion on the current fundraising for the KORC Phase II Endowment showed we were making progress but needed to continue soliciting funds to make our goal of $250,000.00. 3. The Annual Report was passed out to Park Board members. 4. There was a report of vandalism in the campground on the windmill hill. The Police Department discovered three trucks that had driven up the hill causing damage. Maintenance Report: Highlights 1. Staff jacked up the maintenance barn roof where the beams were split and sagging. 2. Park entrance and informational signs were taken down and are being repainted and stained. 3. Community Christmas Greeting boards were primed and stored for next year’s use. 4. The spring animals at the tot lot were removed and will be repainted for installation later in the year. 5. Staff took down tennis nets and also took out the east beach lifeguard chairs that were in bad shape. 6. Cleaned up brush and helped with the removal of several dead trees. 7. Placed barricades and cones around a hole in the ice on Bixler Lake that the fire department cut for ice training. 8. Helped the Street Department plow and remove snow.
