Kendallville Park and Recreation Department 211 Iddings StreetKendallville, Indiana 46755 Phone (260)347-1064 BOARD MEETING MINUTES November 18, 2024 6:30PM Present: Tracy Tipton, President, Kevin Jansen, Vice-President, Dennis Nartker, Sam Zollman and Dawn McGahen, Park Director. Public Comments: None were given. Minutes of the October 21, 2024, meeting was approved. (Jansen, Nartker) Claims were reviewed and approved as presented (Zollman, Jansen) Playground Discussion: Dawn explained to the board the status of fundraising, grants received and showed them photos of both playground structures. Directors Report: 1. 2024 encumbrances were discussed with the board and received their approval. 2. We received feedback from IDNR on our 5-year Master Plan draft. JPR is working on revising areas that were addressed by IDNR. 3. Kevin Jansen will contact the Wayne Township Trustee to verify the funding we receive. Maintenance Report: 1. Staff fixed a water leak at the Lions Pavilion. 2. They continue to mow and mulch throughout the park. 3. Remodeled the campground bathrooms and showers by epoxying the floors and painting. 4. Fixed a tile at Sunset Park. 5. Have helped with the Community Christmas Drive-thru. 6. Are winterizing water lines and locking bathrooms. 7. We are working on evening out the lip on the ballfields between the infield and outfield. Recreation Report: 1. Working on the Community Christmas Greetings Drive-thru. 2. The park plans on having a float in the Christmas Parade. 3. Dawn would like to do an event within the Christmas Cards and give gift cards to winners. The board voted to let her purchase gift cards for this. (Jansen, Zollman) 4. We are working with Great Lakes Watersports to host a jet ski tournament at the lake next summer. Cole Foundation-$5,000.00 General Public (Youth Center Rummage Sale)-$337.00 Board Input: Kevin mentioned that we need to continue to update and improve Sunset Park. Sam told the board that he is leaving the library board which means that he also has to leave the park board. His last meeting will be December 2024. Adjournment: 7:19PM (Jansen, Nartker)
