Kendallville Park and Recreation Department 211 Iddings Street Kendallville, Indiana 46755 Phone (260)347-1064 BOARD MEETING MINUTES July 14, 2025 6:30PM Present: Kevin Jansen, Vice-President, Jen Blackman, Jeni Ekovich, Dennis Nartker, and Dawn McGahen, Park Director. Public Comments: None were presented. Minutes of the June 9, 2025, meeting was approved. (Nartker, Blackman) Claims were reviewed and approved as presented. (Blackman, Ekovich) Directors Report: 1. The 5-year Master Plan copy was delivered. We are working on purchasing additional hard copies for distribution. 2. The Gene Wible Trust has one more disbursement to give the park. As of now, we don’t know what the amount will be. 3. The new Office Manager Melissa Walker has started and is doing a great job. 4. Susan Crosby’s last day will be Monday July 28, 2025. 5. Two juveniles vandalized the soccer bathrooms and were arrested by the police. We are working on the total cost. Maintenance Report: 1. Staff set up for the Fourth of July event and cleaned up afterwards. 2. We continue working on the mini golf course. They are installing the side rails now and we hope to have it open soon. 3. Fixed some issues in the bathrooms and the campground showers. 4. Sanded and painted graffiti that was burnt into the DNR boat ramp. 5. Finished a section of sidewalk near the horseshoe parking area. 6. Continue to trim trees, weed eat, and mow the grounds. Recreation Report: 1. The Patriotic Pops event had a great turnout and was successful. 2. The Princess Concert and Meet and Greet will be held this week. 3. Summer day camp is going well. 4. The Cabaret that was scheduled at the west terraces was moved to the CLC due to the weather forecast. 5. July 26/27, we will host the Great Lakes Watercross Jet Ski Race, at Bixler Lake. 6. We are hosting a disc golf tournament in September. Kendallville Outdoor Recreation Complex: 1. Field Rental at the KORC has been good this year. More teams are utilizing the facility. 2. Wahoo Softball had a tournament, and everything went well. Concession sales were good during the tournament weekend. 3. KGSL is hosting a fundraising tournament at the complex. 4. The adult softball league has gone well. Their tournament will be held the next two weekends, and then fall ball will start. Acceptance of Donations: (Blackman, Ekovich) - General Use: Wayne Township Trustee-$11,000.00 Board Input: The board wanted to wish Dave Button well as he is dealing with some medical issues.
