Planning Commission
July 11, 2024
Chairperson Thomas Schnettler called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. Roll call was
taken: Tom Schnettler, Mike Wandschneider, Thomas Kramer, Mike Zimmermann and
Paul Bonack were present. Jay Hoekstra and Lee Gumm were absent. Staff members
present: Mike Kitzerow and Laurie Lindow.
Approval of Meeting Minutes from April 11, 2024 – Motion by Mike Zimmermann,
second by Thomas Kramer to approve the meeting minutes from April 11, 2024. Motion
carried.
Open Public Hearing – Tom Schnettler opened the public hearing at 4:31 in order to
hear any comments regarding agenda item one. There were no public comments and
no one present to speak.
Business
1. Review and take action on Ordinance No. 2024-7, An Ordinance Repealing and
Recreating Chapter 20.43 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Kohler,
Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, Regarding Floodplain Zoning – The DNR is
requesting an update to the Village Floodplain Zoning and provided a template
which was revised by Attorney Bauer to update our existing ordinance layout. A
public hearing was advertised with a Class 2 notice, there were no public
comments at the public hearing. Motion by Tom Schnettler, second by Mike
Wandschneider to recommend Village Board approve Ordinance No. 2024-7, An
Ordinance Repealing and Recreating Chapter 20.43 of the Municipal Code of the
Village of Kohler, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, Regarding Floodplain Zoning.
Motion carried.
2. Request from Karen and Gary Seifert for a building permit for a new home on Lot
40 in The Clearings Subdivision - The proposed home meets setbacks and
village code and was approved by the Kohler Co. Residential Review Committee.
Tom Schnettler asked about the dead ash trees on the south edge of this lot,
Renee Suscha knows that a majority of the trees are on Kohler Co. property and
will be taken care of. Motion by Mike Zimmermann, second by Mike
Wandschneider to approve request from Karen and Gary Seifert for a building
permit for a new home on Lot 40 in The Clearings Subdivision. Motion carried.
3. Request from KPAL for temporary signs – This is a request from KPAL for
temporary signs advertising movie nights during the summer months. The
temporary signs meet code and, in the future, can be approved by Mike Kitzerow
as long as there are no changes. Motin by Tom Schnettler, second by Mike
Zimmermann to approve the request from KPAL for temporary signs advertising
movie nights. Motion carried.
4. Review and take action on certified survey map dividing a 21.5 acre parcel into
four lots on Ourtown Road, Section 12, in the Town of Lima under extraterritorial
plan approve jurisdiction – Motion by Tom Schnettler, second by Thomas Kramer
to approve certified survey map as presented. Motion carried.
Adjournment
Motion by Mike Wandschneider, second by Mike Zimmermann to adjourn the meeting at
4:40 p.m. Motion carried.
