PUBLIC COMMENTS
• In-Person comments during the meeting: Join us for the Board meeting at the time and

three (3) minutes.

during Public Comments, should contact the Public Works Department at 619.667.1450, no later
than 12:00 p.m., the business day prior to the meeting day. Advance notification will ensure
compatibility with City equipment and allow Board meeting presentations to progress smoothly and
in a consistent and equitable manner. Please note that all presentations/digital materials are
considered part of the maximum time limit provided to speakers.
Agenda reports for items on this agenda are available for public review at the Public Works
Department, 8152 Commercial Street, during normal business hours.
Materials related to an item on this agenda submitted to the Board after distribution of the agenda
packet are available for public inspection at the Public Works Department, 8152 Commercial
Street, during normal business hours.

Board Member Suzuki called the meeting to order at 9:00 A.M.

3.1 HARRY GRIFFEN REGIONAL PARK AND CANINE CORNERS
UPDATES
Misty Thompson, Director of Community Services
Misty Thompson, Director of Community Services went over permits,
events, and reservable sites during fiscal year 25 at Harry Griffen Park.
She also went over requests from park goers (parking, off-leash dogs,
shade needed). She then introduced the Secretary of Canine Corners,
Janet Freeman. Ms. Freeman provided an update on Canine Corners and
the need for weeding and board members. Michelle Metschel from City of

El Cajon provided a resource to Canine Corners to assist with the weeding
as community service.

There were no questions of the minutes from March 26, 2025.

5.2 APPROVAL OF THE FISCAL YEAR 2025-2026 BUDGET
Board Member Daniels of the County of San Diego inquired about where,
if possible, to decrease the budget in order to not see a large increase.
Moved by Councilmember Suzuki
Seconded by Board Member Metschel
City of La Mesa staff recommends the Governing Board approve the budget
for Fiscal Year 2025-2026.

No (1): Board Member Daniels
