OLD TOWN LA VERNE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING Monday, November l, 2021 1. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Craig Walters at 8:32a.m. Advisory Board Members present: Craig Walters, Marianne Stark, Jason Miller, and Mickey Rehm. City Representative present: Community Development Director Eric Scherer and Secretary Natalie Hiatt. Others present: Roy Cannizo and Maria Faura. ) CALENDAR Cruisin La Verne - Saturday, November 20,2021 Holiday Stroll - Saturday, December 4,2021 3. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES July 12,2021 It was moved by Ms. Stark and seconded by Mr. Miller to approve the minutes of the July 12, 2021meeting. Motion carried by a 4-0 vote. 4. NEW BUSINESS A. Cruisin La Verne - Mr. Scherer announced that the "D" Street road closure is scheduled to re-open before the car show on Friday, November 19th. B. Holiday Stroll - December 4,20214:00pm-8:00pm. Ms. Rehm stated that Mr. Henderson will be reading the story and Leann and John Paddock will be dressed as Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Pictures with Santa will be from 4:00pm-6:00pm. Ms. Rehm ordered three trees for Mainiero Square and made arrangements with a local decorator. The post card is scheduled to be mailed in two weeks with 4 merchant advertisements. Mr. Scherer stated that the street crew will set-up the Christmas decorations before the car show. C Bike Donation Event - Mr. Scherer stated that Aflie Sanchez of Majestic Cycle is working with the Police Department to donate 40 children's bicycles. Mr. Sanchei requested to present the bikes on December 4ft before the Holiday Stroll event. i  Ms. Stark and Chairperson Walters recommended presenting early in the afternoon and be cleared out by 3:00pm, before the Holiday Stroll begins. 5. CONTINUED BUSINESS A. D Street Dining - Mr. Scherer addressed concerns regarding Caf6 Wang's street dining setup. He stated that the barricades are required by the Public Works Department and Fire Department. The board discussed cosmetic improvements to the set-up and re-evaluating any other street dining setups. Mr. Scherer and Chairperson Walters will discuss possible improvements of the set-up with the owners of Cafe Wang. It was moved by Ms. Rehm and seconded by Ms. Stark to suspend any new applications for street dining and recommends City Council revoke any permits once ABC reverses their current guidelines. Motion carried by a 4-0 vote. 6. COMMITTEE RE,PORTS/ UPDATES A. City Report (Eric Scherer): Mr. Scherer stated that the Mainiero Square stage will go out to bid soon, "E" Street and 2nd Street pedestrian access improvements are in the process, and the Gold Line parking plan was discussed. B. University Report (Jason Miller): Mr. Miller stated that students and staff are back on campus. International student, adult student, and transfer student enrollment is down. C. Marketing (Micky Rehm): None D. Chamber Report (Leah Skinner): Taste of La Verne October 20,2021- Ms. Stark stated that the event was a smaller scale but well attended. Mr. Scherer stated that five restaurants dropped out of the event at the last minute and ticket sales were stopped early. E. Social Media Update (Micky Rehm): Ms. Rehm stated that the BID website is not updated with upcoming events and the directory is out of date. F. Financial Report: None Chairperson Walters announced that Delia Heredia recently sold her business. He stated that he felt it was appropriate for the Board to recommend recognition from the City Council for her years of support to Old Town. 7 PUBLIC COMMENT (Any discussion or action on non-agendized items must be deferred to the following meeting, as required by Califomia Brown Act Law) No comments received. 8.
