Minutes of the Regular Meeting
June 28, 2022
1. A meeting of the Youth & Family Action Committee was called to order by Chair
Robin Carder at 6:37 p.m.
2. Executive Board Members present:

3. Review of Minutes Minutes for the April 2022 meeting were approved.
4. School Resource Officer Administrative Lieutenant Chris Dransfeldt provided
the SRO Report noting the graduations for the
schools were well attended and smooth. Chris also
noted the continuation of tobacco enforcement efforts
and the progress on identifying youth representatives
in conjunction with the schools.
5. BUSD Report Mark Rodgers with the BUSD shared reflections from
the school year as well as what is expected going into
the new year. Mark shared specific information about
the universal transitional kindergarten program.
6. Summer Lunch JR Ranells with the City of La Verne reported that the
City had been awarded grant funds from the Tri-City
Community Wellbeing Grant program to help support
and enhance the Summer Lunch program. JR shared
that the program was well underway and that there
have been an average of 20 participants per day.
7. Executive Board Vacancy JR provided an update that the unexpired term filled by
Don Kendrick will be expiring and therefore a new
process to fill the vacancy will need to take place. The
vacancy will be posted by the City Clerk’s office and
any applications will come back to the next YFAC

meeting for consideration and recommendation for
ultimate appointment by the City Council.
8. Strategic Planning Erin Beilstein with the City of La Verne introduced the
strategic planning process and noted several
programs engaged by other communities that might be
worthwhile to La Verne. The group entered into
discussion regarding priorities as well as fundraising
ideas. The item was tabled for further consideration at
a future meeting.
9. Public Comment The group thanked Chair Robin Carder for her many
years of dedicated service to YFAC and the City of
La Verne.
10. Next Meeting The next YFAC meeting was scheduled for August
23, 2022.
11. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
