Laconia Public Library Board of Trustees Minutes of Meeting September 24, 2015 Volpe Room Laconia Public Library Board of Trustees held their regular monthly meeting in Volpe Room. Chairman Bob Selig called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. Present: James Anderson; Glenn Smith; Director Randy Brough Not Present: Craig Clark; Kimberly Danosi; John Moriarty; John Perley; Liz Rosenfeld; City Council Liaison Brenda Baer As a quorum was not present, no votes were taken at this meeting. Minutes from the July 30, 2015 meeting and the July and August expenditures were reviewed. In the future, bills paid from the library checking account should be authorized by the Board. Director will obtain a copy of the City of Laconia purchasing policy for review. HVAC system software upgrade. There have been intermittent technical issues with the HVAC system software for awhile. Control Technologies is replacing the older JACE for all of their clients, to improve system efficiency and to permit system updates. Cost is $9845.00. Director will have Jon Gardner review the documentation submitted by Control Technologies. Director met with new LRPA Director Grace McNamara. LRPA is always eager to air quality programming. Library will have to arrange to have staff or volunteers tape programs. Director will ask Grace if LRPA is willing to produce a regular library spot. Library owns a new portable sign to highlight programs. Library has three activities planned for the Pumpkin Fest. Program information will be forwarded to the Pumpkin Fest/ Let it Shine website. A reading reward program will be instituted at the library. Luncheon for library grounds/flower beds volunteers was held September 16. About eighteen representatives from CBH Landscaping, Opechee Garden Club and Laconia Parks & Recreation were in attendance. Director will meet with Father Marc to discuss plans for stump-filled strip of land between St. Joseph parking lot and LPL parking lot. Director, other staff are meeting next week with Sann Lavallee (Dept. Chair for Computer Technologies at LRCC) and members of her Women in Technology Club (a STEM-activity focused group) to discuss collaborating on STEM programming. Next meeting is moved to Wednesday, November 18 at 5:00pm.
