Dean calls the meeting to order at 6:09 PM
Present: Deborah Williams, Dick Christopher, Dean Anson, Lisa Morin, and Evan
Not Present: Michael Foote and Marnie Schultz

Review of November 16th, 2016 Minutes.

1. NHDES Plan for Milfoil Control in Paugus Bay 2017
1. Milfoil volunteers for weed watcher and water sampling in Paugus
Bay, Opechee, and Winnisquam.
1. Deb will ask if it is possible to train Technician Evan in water
testing.
2. The state has identified 3 areas that are infested with Milfoil which
are circled in red which is going to be treated with 2-4-D, another
area with diver’s flags which will be treated manually by hand and a
final area which will have no milfoil treatment at this time. 2-4-D is
an herbicide which will kill all plants and an application rate of 107
pounds per acre. Application rate wants to be bumped up to 170
pounds per acre. Conservation Commission has concerns about
after effects and what 2-4-D does to the environment.
1. Conservation Commissions preferred method of disposing of
milfoil is DASH and is opposed to using chemicals to treat
milfoil because Paugus Bay is a source of drinking water for
Laconia and portions of Gilford.

2. Conservation Commission will draft a letter to DES.
3. Lake Host for ramps
1. A line item is needed for this in the budget.
2. Conservation Commission Budget for this year
1. Fiscal year 7/1/16 to 6/30/17
1. ConsCom needs a total of Wetland CUPs for the previous
year and Wetland Permits.
2. Need “Don’t Feed the Ducks” sign for Paul Ave. and Jewett
Brook.
3. Need expenditure report up until the present day.
3. Master Plan Nat Inventory
1. Attached is the revised memo with information regarding the
Natural Resources chapter added to it. A copy of this has been
given to Councilor Bownes per the Board’s request.
4. City Forest inventory
1. Dean will call Andy Fast.
2. Deb would like more information about city tree inventory
5. Water Street river cleanup – who is responsible for the river walk
maintenance? Eager Island, public complaint about trash along river by
Water Street ramp
1. Use Day of Caring as a vehicle to clean up the lake. Put on the To Do list.
6. Pollinator plantings in all Adopt a Spots in City
1. Plugs cost between $1.30 and $2.00
7. Kiosks at Messer St, Water St. and Transfer Station
1. Variable information.
