CITY OF LACONIA CONSERVATION COMMISSION MEETING March 22nd, 2017 6:00 PM, CITY HALL, ROOM 200A SECOND FLOOR OF CITY HALL 45 BEACON STREET EAST Call to Order (Roll Call) (6:00 PM) Commission Members: Dean Anson, Marnie Schulz, Lisa Morin, Dick Christopher, Deb Williams, and Michael Foote Guests: Nick Sceggel and Randall Shuey, Scientists/Engineers from Northpoint Engineering and Dubois and King a. Review of the March 1st, 2017 minutes b. Lisa makes a motion to accept the minutes with changes. i. Marnie seconds. ii. All “Aye”. Northpoint Engineering/ Dubois and King Engineering starts their presentation about the Irwin Marine proposal. R. Shuey gives an overview of the project. N. Sceggel give a brief explanation of what Irwin Marine would like to do with their property. Irwin has future conceptual plans for internal boat storage. D. Williams has questions about where the site is located. R. Shuey explains to D. Anson how drained the site is. He also explains that the water table is 30 inches deep. L. Morin asks whether they will go to Gilford. N. Sceggel confirms that they will. R. Shuey gives an explanation of what they are going to do with the 2 sawdust piles that are on the property. D. Anson suggests for the conservation commissions for Gilford and Laconia to have a joint meeting in the future. D. Anson discusses that the next Lake Winnisquam Watershed meeting will be April 7th. D. Anson discusses the water sampling that was proposed by DES for Lake Winnisquam. L. Morin discusses that Conservation Commission needs to visit and repair soak up the rain sites. D. Anson would like for the Commission members to read through the SWR draft and come back to the next meeting with suggestions. The Commission discusses future Brownfields sites. River cleanup is set for a tentative July date. L. Morin suggests floating the idea of a river cleanup in front of the LWW meeting. D. Williams states that she has submitted her grant for Lake Host this summer and that they applied for 2500 grant money. Conservation Commission will find out how much money they acquired near the end of April. D. Anson states that there is a kiosk at the transfer station that the Boy Scouts have set up that has information about invasive species and to check your garbage before dumping it. D. Anson is still trying to get into touch with Jeff from UNH about the study of the current in Paugus Bay. D. Anson poses the idea of doing a general climate change presentation and it’s relation to storm water. Presentation at Prescott Farm in the future. “The Big Night For Amphibians” M. Schulz makes a motion to adjourn at 8:15 PM. D. Williams Seconds. All “Aye.” Meeting adjourns.
