6. Downtown Parking
The board discussed parking garage signage downtown. R. Mora stated that he would be scheduling time
to go out with Public Works and the Planning Department to evaluate where potential new signage could be
erected.
The board would like to see the parking signs in the City Halls parking lot changed to reflect the times that
two-hour parking is enforced and that the two-hour parking limit is not enforced during the weekends and
evenings downtown. The consensus for two-hour parking was Monday thru Friday, 9 AM - 5:30 PM, more in
line with what is done in Concord.
Patrick Wood, Resident of Laconia: Discussed that the City Council discussed the Parking Garage at the
Land Use Committee. That possibly the garage could take up to three years to complete if they decide to
move forward with the proposed redevelopment of the garage. Also suggested installing solar panels on the
top of the garage to generate some electricity while adding cover for the vehicles on top.
The board discussed parking needs downtown and whether there were any proposed loading zones near the
colonial. In addition, there should be some 15-minute parking spots added on Canal St. C. St. Clair: Noted
that he would like to see loading zones curbs painted, helping residences more readily identify them. The
board also briefly discussed whether metered parking might be an option and that fees collected with those
systems stay in the area they are collected in, i.e., Downtown, Weirs, or Lakeport.
