CITY OF LACONIA HERITAGE COMMISSION
Wednesday, February 8, 2017
MINUTES
I. Call to Order: C. Tokarz called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
II. Present: C. Tokarz (Chair), D. Duffy, M. Hoey, P. Clark, M. Boudman,
J. Whitehead.
Absent: A. Doyle
Staff: D. Wood (recording the meeting)
III. Chairman’s Remarks: C. Tokarz said she had nothing further to report
that wasn’t already covered under the agenda items.
IV. Minutes: Minutes of the meeting on January 11, 2017, were reviewed.
M. Hoey made a motion to approve the minutes. D. Duffy seconded the
motion and it was approved unanimously.
V. City Council Liaison Report: C. Tokarz read an e-mail from Ava
Doyle who had hoped to attend the meeting. A. Doyle reported that the time
for offers on the Lakeport Fire Station is up at close of business on Friday,
February 10, 2017. She also reported the good news of the sale of the
Winnipesaukee Pier and the planned changes and upgrades to it.
VI. Old Business:
A. Area Studies: P. Clark said she had not heard from Judith
Pellowe. C. Tokarz said she would try to reach J. Pellowe by phone.
B. Alternate to the Heritage Commission: C. Tokarz said she had
heard from Peter Stewart and he was not interested in an appointment to the
Heritage Commission at this time, but added if we needed any advice, he
would help out.
VII. NEW BUSINESS:
A. Lakes Region Heritage Commission Invitation: P. Clark said
she was sorry she would not be able to attend this meeting (Monday, February
13, 2017, at the Moultonborough Library from 6-8 pm). P. Clark said she has
another meeting at the same time (Historic Society). C. Tokarz said any
members who would like to attend should e-mail her so that they can carpool.
B. Contact Chain: C. Tokarz said members should not send e-mails
to all members at once, but instead, send to one member and ask that it be
forwarded to another member, until all receive the message.
C. St. Joseph’s Church announcement: C. Tokarz said she had
read in the newspaper of the sale and possible demo of this church and asked
if anyone had heard anything new. C. Tokarz read a letter she wrote regarding
this historic property, which she will e-mail to the Pope, and encouraged
others to do the same.
D. Reappointment of Commission member(s). C. Tokarz said
membership renewals were sent to those members whose term is up in March
2017. P. Clark announced that after 9 years on the Heritage Commission, she
was not going to run again as she is so busy with the Historic Society and also
the 125th Anniversary of Laconia. She handed over the area studies
information to C. Tokarz. C. Tokarz said that she will be missed and all
members agreed.
IX. Public Comments: NONE
X. Adjournment: P. Clark made a motion to adjourn, which was seconded
by M. Hoey and unanimously approved. The meeting was adjourned at 5:50
p.m.
