CITY OF LACONIA HERITAGE COMMISSION MARCH 8, 2017 MINUTES I. Call to Order: C. Tokarz called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. II. Present: C. Tokarz (chair), D. Duffy, M. Hoey, J. Whitehead. Absent: M. Boudman, A. Doyle Staff: D. Wood (recording the meeting) III. Chairman’s Remarks: C. Tokarz said she had nothing further to report that wasn’t already covered under the agenda items. IV. Minutes: Minutes of the meeting on February 8, 2017, were reviewed. M. Hoey made a motion to approve the minutes. D. Duffy seconded the motion and it was approved unanimously. V. City Council Liaison Report: A. Doyle was unable to attend the meeting, but sent an e-mail saying that the Lakeport Fire Station had been sold to Lakeport Landing and also listed the conditions for the sale. VI. Old Business A. Area Studies: C. Tokarz was able to contact Judith Pellowe, who said that her phone was broken and also she had to work tonight so was not able to attend our meeting. C. Tokarz requested all members to consider an alternate to finish the area studies.  B. Alternate to the Heritage Commission: M. Boudman’s alternate position is up for reappointment, and she has requested to be considered for the vacant regular member position. If Council appoints her to that position, that will leave one more alternate position vacant. C. Lakes Region Heritage Commission Invitation: D. Duffy, P. Clark, M. Boudman, and J. Whitehead attended the Lakes Region Heritage Commission meeting at the Moultonborough Library on February 13, 2017. C. Tokarz suggested that maybe Laconia should host a meeting. D. St. Joseph’s Church announcement: D. Duffy said she put a notice on FB about the possible sale/demo of St. Joseph’s Church and got a lot of feedback. D. Duffy also wrote an article which she sent to various newspapers. C. Tokarz said she finished her letter to the Pope and will also attach D. Duffy’s article. E. Reappointment of Commission member(s): Three regular member positions are up for reappointment in March (D. Duffy, M. Hoey and C. Tokarz). VII. New Business: None VIII. Public Comments: None IX Adjournment: D. Duffy made a motion to adjourn, which was seconded by J. Whitehead and unanimously approved. The meeting was adjourned at 6:05 p.m.
