CITY OF LACONIA HERITAGE COMMISSION Wednesday, May 10, 2017 MINUTES I. CALL TO ORDER: C. Tokarz called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. II. PRESENT: C. Tokarz, D. Duffy, M. Hoey, M. Boudman, J. Whitehead ABSENT: A. Doyle STAFF: D. Wood (recording the meeting) GUEST: Judith Pellowe III. MINUTES: The Minutes of the meeting on April 12, 2017 were reviewed. D. Duffy made a motion to approve the Minutes. J. Whitehead seconded the motion, and it was approved unanimously. IV. CITY COUNCIL LIAISON REPORT: None V. PLANNING BOARD UPDATE: None VI. OLD BUSINESS: A. St. Joseph’s Church: C. Tokarz asked D. Duffy if there was anything new with the sale of the Church. Dorothy said Donna Hosmer has been very concerned about the community, so she tried to contact her to let her know we would be supportive in any effort to save the Church. So far she has not heard back from Donna. B. Area Studies: Judith Pellowe said she has been researching the Registry of Deeds and also the National Register of Historic Places. She said she felt the work done so far didn’t include a lot of history/background and also didn’t include anything about properties on the National Register. She also said the location map needs to be attached. Judith said she will send the addresses of the properties to D. Wood & C. Tokarz and D. Wood will get copies of the tax maps and C. Tokarz will take pictures. C. Lakes Region Heritage Commission Invitation: D. Duffy said Andrew Cushing is a new employee of NH Department of Historic Resources, and he is trying to arrange a regional meeting (Belmont, Laconia, Sanbornton and Gilford) tentatively set for June 22, 2017. D. NH Preservation Alliance: D. Duffy, M. Hoey, M. Boudman and J. Whitehead attended the Preservations Community Character Conference in Concord on April 21, 2017, and they will report on the conference at the June meeting.
