CITY OF LACONIA HERITAGE COMMISSION MARCH 15, 2018 MINUTES I. CALL TO ORDER: J. Whitehead called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. II. PRESENT: J. Whitehead (chair), C. Tokarz, D. Duffy, M. Hoey, M. Boudman ABSENT: M. Haynes (City Council Liaison) STAFF: D. Wood (recording the meeting). III. MINUTES: The Minutes of the meeting on February 14, 2018 were reviewed. C. Tokarz made a motion to approve the Minutes. D. Duffy seconded the motion, and it was approved unanimously. IV. CITY COUNCIL LIAISON REPORT: None V. PLANNING BOARD UPDATE: D. Duffy attended the meeting on March 6, 2018 and said there was nothing pertinent to the Heritage Commission. She also said that anyone can go on line at the City website and see the minutes of the meeting in detail. VI TREASURER’S REPORT: J. Whitehead said she applied for $750 budget (as done every year). With the $750, the Heritage Commission will have $3,191.24 in their budget. VII. OLD BUSINESS: A. Area Studies/Photography: J. Whitehead said we are still waiting for the snow to be gone. B. Property Restoration Recognition D. Duffy passed around a sample certificate which she drafted and said that it should be submitted to the City Manager for approval. C. St. Joseph’s Church: J. Whitehead said the Commission should think of optimistic ways to use the church. VIII. NEW BUSINESS: A. State Preservation Activities: J. Whitehead said the NH Preservation Alliance is sponsoring “Old House & Barn Expo” on March 24th & 25th at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester and said if anyone was interested in attending on the 24th to let her know. J. Whitehead also said that the NH Preservation Alliance will be presenting their Annual Preservation Achievement Awards on May 8, 2018 at the Concord City Auditorium and again requested anyone interested in attending to let her know. D. Duffy said that she is arranging a tour of Randy Bartlett’s Riverbank properties and added that Riverbank may be considered for an award next year. D. Duffy said she will let us know the date of the tour. B. 125th Anniversary celebration and other projects: J. Whitehead said there will be an event on March 24, 2018 at Pitman’s Freight Room. C. Historic Structure Directory: This was already addressed at a previous meeting. D. Recruitment of new members/volunteers: C. Tokarz suggested Dick Allen as a possible candidate and asked D. Duffy to contact him to see if he was interested. J. Whitehead said she also met someone recently who might be interested. IX. Public Comments: None X. Adjournment: D. Duffy made a motion to adjourn, which was seconded by C. Tokarz. The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
