CITY OF LACONIA HERITAGE COMMISSION January 16, 2019 MINUTES The commission saluted the flag prior to the start of the meeting. I. Call to Order The Chair called the meeting to order at 5:04 pm and introduced the members. Present: Catherine Tokarz, Mary Jane Hoey, Mary Ellen Boudman, Jane Whitehead, Dorothy Duffy, Michael Sweet and Mark Haynes Staff: Planning Director Dean Trefethen II. Minutes: Review/adopt Minutes from the meeting of December 11, 2018. There were no minutes reviewed III. City Council Liaison Report: Mark Haynes discussed the Colonial Theater. He gave an update on the funding for the project, which was given at the City Council meeting Jan 14. There was a discussion about the options. IV. Planning Board Update: Dorothy Duffy and Michael Sweet Reported on the new 62+ housing at the corner of Union and 423 Main Street. V. Lakeshore Redevelopment Commission, Advisory Committee meeting, December 12, 2018: Planning Director D. Trefethen reported on the advising committee to memorialize the former state school property. Discussion ensued. VI. Recent articles of interest in Laconia Daily Sun Discussion ensued on the Colonial Theatre and the Keys Building. VII. Old Business: Property Restoration Recognition Awards The Commission was happy with Council’s recommendation for the front porch award. VIII. New Business: Lakeshore Advisory Committee upcoming meeting, February 15 or 22, 2019. J. Whitehead will also present to the Fire Dept a plate commemorating firefighters who volunteered for the efforts at the World Trade Center after 9 /11. IX. Public Comments D. Duffy talked about the issue concerning short term rentals. X. Adjournment C. Tokarz moved to adjourn at 6:10 pm, M. Sweet seconded. The vote passed unanimously.
