CITY OF LACONIA HERITAGE COMMISSION FEBRUARY 20, 2019 MINUTES I. Call to Order: J. Whitehead called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. II. Present: J. Whitehead, D. Duffy, M. Boudman, M. Sweet, M. Haynes Absent: M. Hoey, C. Tokarz Staff: D. Wood (recording the meeting) III. Minutes: The Minutes of the meeting on January 16, 2019 were reviewed. D. Duffy made a motion to approve the Minutes. M. Boudman seconded the motion, and it was approved unanimously. IV. City Council Liaison Report: M. Haynes thanked D. Duffy for the kind words she spoke at the City Council meeting and said he thought she got the attention of City Council. D. Duffy said she can see a connection between Planning/Zoning and the Heritage Commission; therefore, it’s good to keep connected. V. Planning Board Update: D. Duffy said a proposal to raze the buildings at 950 Main Street and construct a new office building was coming before the Planning Board and if so, the demo application would come to the Heritage commission for approval. She also said that the application for boat storage at 903 Union Ave. had been withdrawn. VI. Lakeshore Redevelopment Commission, Advisory Committee meetings, January 14 and 17, 2019: Jane Whitehead said the last Commission meeting was on January 17, 2019 where they reported on Phase 2 environmental study. The ground water report should be out by the first quarter of the year. VII. New Business: 1. Lakeshore Advisory Committee upcoming meeting, February 22, 2019. J. Whitehead said the meeting will be at 9 am at City Hall. 2. Committee to research buildings on former Laconia State School property. J. Whitehead said there will come a time when demo applications will be submitted for some of the buildings. Therefore, she said we need to do a study of the history of the buildings so we’ll be prepared when demo applications are submitted. M. Sweet said he will print out a site map. 3. Date for public presentation of commemorative 9/11 plate to Fire Department. J. Whitehead tentatively set the date of Saturday, March 2, 2019, and will check with the Fire Chief. VIII. Recent articles of interest in Laconia Daily Sun: M. Sweet said there was an article on angled parking downtown. IX. Public Comments: None X. Adjournment: D. Duffy moved to adjourn at 5:50 pm. M. Boudman seconded the motion and the vote passed unanimously.
