CITY OF LACONIA HERITAGE COMMISSION April 10, 2019 MINUTES I. Call to Order: Jane Whitehead called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. II. Present: J. Whitehead (Chair), D. Duffy, M. Boudman, C. Tokarz, M. Haynes Absent: M. Sweet Staff: D. Wood (recording the meeting) III. Minutes: The Minutes of the meeting on March 13, 2019 were reviewed. M Boudman made a motion to approve the Minutes. C. Tokarz seconded the motion, and it was approved unanimously. IV. City Council Liaison Report: Mark Haynes said there were 2 public hearings for short-term rentals. Dean Trefethen, Director Planning and Code, is still working on the particulars. V. Planning Board Update: Nothing to report. VI. Lakeshore Redevelopment Commission meeting, April 9, 2019: J. Whitehead said she attended the meeting which focused on plans for the athletic fields. She said Hunden Strategic Partners was doing a marketing study on building a major sports complex, and there should be a preliminary report after 5-6 weeks. J. Whitehead said on April 17, 2019 at 10 am, the Lakeshore Redevelopment Commission was going to visit the agricultural buildings and perhaps some Heritage Commissioners would be interested in going VII. Old Business: A. Committee to research buildings on former Laconia State School property: This will be discussed at the May meeting. B. Date for photographing Laconia buildings: C. Tokarz said the date will be decided when the snow is gone and before leaves come out. VIII. New Business: A. Wayne Hackett, Lakeport United Baptist Church: Wayne Hackett, who is a native of Laconia/Lakeport, talked about the history of the church (which is on the National Register of Historic Places) and the maintenance problems they are presently facing. B. Upcoming Meetings: Upcoming meetings: J. Whitehead said the following 2 meetings in May might be of interest to Heritage Commissioners. 1. Lakes Region Heritage Commissions, May 18, 10:00-12:00, Wolfeboro Train Station 2. New Hampshire Preservation Alliance, May 31, 8:30 AM – 7:30 PM, Littleton Opera House IX. News from Lakes Region Heritage Commissions (Moultonborough, Belmont, Center Harbor): Jane said news from various commissions may be helpful to our commission. X. Public Comments: None XI. Adjournment: D. Duffy moved to adjourn. M. Boudman seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. The meeting was adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
