CITY OF LACONIA HERITAGE COMMISSION Wednesday, May 8, 2019 MINUTES I. Call to Order: Jane Whitehead called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. II. Present: J. Whitehead (Chair), D. Duffy, M. Boudman, C. Tokarz, M. Sweet, M. Haynes Staff: D. Wood (recording the meeting) III. Minutes: The Minutes of the meeting on April 10, 2019, were reviewed. C. Tokarz noted one minor correction. C. Tokarz made a motion to approve the Minutes with the correction. M. Boudman seconded the motion, and it was approved unanimously. IV. Introduction of potential new member: J. Whitehead introduced Lois Kessin who was interested in joining the Heritage Commission. Lois spoke briefly about her background. V. City Council Liaison Report: Mark Haynes said at the last Council meeting, there was discussion of roads that have never been accepted which is still under discussion. He also said that the Planning Board, in conjunction with Zoning, is looking at changing some of the ordinances and looking at performance zoning. VI. Planning Board Update: D. Duffy said there was nothing new that pertained to the Heritage Commission. VII. Lakeshore Redevelopment Commission tour of agricultural buildings, April 17, 2019: J. Whitehead said she and C. Tokarz went on a tour of the agricultural buildings of the former State School and passed around pictures they took of the 4 buildings they saw. Some of the building were in poor shape. She said they are waiting to see which buildings will be torn down and/or saved VIII. Old Business: A. Committee to research buildings on former Laconia State School property. B. Report on photographing Laconia buildings: J. Whitehead, C. Tokarz along with a friend from Campton, went around and took some pictures of downtown area structures. The pictures will be edited to match criteria set by the State. C. Tokarz said they also have some pictures that were taken by the intern, Greg Jacobs in 2016. IX. New Business: Upcoming meetings: A. Lakes Region Heritage Commissions, May 18, 10:00-12:00, Wolfeboro Train Station – J. Whitehead, M. Boudman, M. Sweet and D. Duffy will attend this meeting. B. New Hampshire Preservation Alliance, May 31, 8:30 AM – 7:30 PM, Littleton Opera House – J. Whitehead handed out the flyer advertising this Statewide Preservation Conference and Awards Celebration. J. Whitehead, M. Sweet, and M. Boudman plan on attending and will sign up on line. C. St. Joseph Church: - J. Whitehead said she has been getting a lot of calls regarding the church. She said Andrew Cushing said he would like to meet with our Heritage commissioners. X. Public Comments: None XI. Adjournment: M. Boudman made a motion to adjourn. M. Sweet seconded the motion, which was approved unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
