AGENDA:
1
1. Action on Approval of 10/20/2022 Meeting minutes.
The first issue of the October 20, 2022, minutes read as follows: “An alternative
is to use Liquid Propane (LP) which would require the installation of two 1,000 lb.
tanks.” This was amended to read: “An alternative is to use Liquid Propane (LP)
which would require the installation of two 1,000-gallon tanks.”
MOTION: Upon a motion by Mr. Eddy with second by Mr. Tierno, the minutes of
the October 20, 2022, meeting were approved as amended unanimously.
2. Public Input
- Mr. Emerson questioned the use of the long-term automobile parking lot as to
why the vehicles belonging to people who are away for an extended time are
not being moved to that lot.
- A decision was made to include that topic on the next meeting of the LAA.
3. Review of Finances - A general discussion of the finances took place, noting
that everything appeared to be in order.
4. Operations Report
a. Generator - We discovered that the NG line from the street was not large enough
to handle the necessary volume of gas to run the generator, and the cost to replace
it was prohibitive. So, we opted to install two 1,000-gallon LP tanks instead. The
LP tanks are in place and filled; we now await the arrival of the generator in
February or March.
b. Sign – Our Laconia Airport sign blew over in the strong 70mph winds on Christmas
Eve. The only damage was to one of the blocks that it sits on. The intention is to
reset it in the spring.
c. Flagpole – Our flagpole snapped off in the same storm and will be replaced in the
spring.
5. AIP Projects Update – Mr. Gorham presented the following:
a. SBG 15 – Obstruction removal - The obstruction removal project to remove
trees penetrating the approach surfaces of runways 08/26 on & off the airport is on
track to begin in January or when the ground freezes sufficiently to operate heavy
equipment without too much impact to the soil and wetlands.
b. SBG 20 - Perimeter Fence Project - We have received the grant agreement for
phase 1 of the perimeter wildlife fence – planning, permitting, and design. We hope
to be able to have a complete perimeter fence by the year 2024. 2
c. Crosswinds Development - The planning and design phase continues.
6. Old Business
a. DAE – Revised site plan – Mr. Emerson requested approval for a revision of
the site plan for Lot #9 on the Crosswinds Development. The two hangars
book-ending the T-hangars originally were 50’x 50’; he seeks approval to
increase the size to 60’x 60’ to accommodate larger aircraft.
MOTION: Upon a motion by Mr. Tierno with second by Ms. Weeks,
approval to amend Mr. Emerson’s site plan to increase the size of the two
larger hangars was granted unanimously.
7. New Business
a. Winnaero is making plans to host an event called Aerospace Career
Awareness Day – April 13, 2023
The goals of the Aerospace Career Awareness Day are to:
Bring central NH schools, the Lakes Region Community and aerospace
companies and organizations together to meet and get to know each other,
and
Provide local companies and those companies who frequent the airport an
opportunity to let the public know the types of skills their companies require,
and which positions are available within their organizations.
- By CONSENSUS , the Authority granted approval for this event.
b. Wings, Water, Wheels – May 20, 2023
Winnaero is also seeking approval to conduct this event on the above date.
- By CONSENSUS , the Authority also granted approval for this event.
8. Other Business – Due to the resignation of two of our LAA members, and the
completion of the term of a third member, we will be posting an advertisement for
three residents of the city of Laconia to serve on the Authority.
9. Next Scheduled Meeting: February 16 , 2023
10. Adjournment – The Chair declared the meeting adjourned at 17:11L.
