Laconia Putnam Fund Laconia Putnam Monthly Board Meeting August 2, 2019 This meeting was called to order on August 2, 2019 at the Woodside Commons located at the Taylor Community at 12:00 pm with the following in attendance: Linda Peary, Richard Landry, Jim Rogato, Charles Bradley and Betty Ballantyne. Guest: Larry Frates. PROPOSAL: Larry Frates – Presenter – Community Superhero Project This project is an intergenerational project focusing on the recognition and honoring of everyday SUPERHEROS in the Laconia through the visual arts. The main project will consist of four instructional workshops. Likely presented at the Belknap Mill, Laconia Public Library, Taylor Community and The Boys and Girls Club. Anticipated audience could be 200 to 300 participants. Fee $3,000. A first motion was made by Charles Bradley, second by Rich Landry with all in favor. T Author: Alex Kershaw – World War ll Historian, April 15, 2020 to be held at the Taylor Community at the Woodside Commons. Fee $3,000 & accommodations. Charles made the first motion with Linda Peary the second motion with all in favor. AF DISCUSSION: Agent, Julie Grant submitted a group of recommendations for us to consider. They are the following: David Clayton Thomas, Blood Sweat & Tears, Zombies, Linder Eder and Tommy Emanuel. None were committed at this time. Recycled Percussion: Linda will reach out to them. R The Love Dogs – Potential 2020 Blues Show. Betty did secure a business card when attending their show. Jim has been in communication with them. Jim is on it! D CONCERTS IN THE PARK – Rotary Park at the Belknap Mill- Well received and attended! FALL AGENDA: BJ Thomas September 13, 2019 @ LHS Auditorium @ 7:00 pm Ted Vigil – John Denver Tribute October 18, 2019 @ LHS Auditorium @ 7:00 pm Neal Bascomb – Author WW II Best Selling “Winter Fortress” Friday, October 25, 2019 @ 7:00 pm Woodside Commons – Taylor Community Coco Montoya & Duke Robillard November 8, 2019 @ LHS Auditorium @ 7:00 pm (A conversation was had regarding a harmonica musician to be included with this show. Linda Peary will pursue if Coco & Duke were on board to be discussed with our Agent Julie Grant.) MISCELLANEOUS: Superintendent of Schools in Laconia - Steve Tucker: Jim had the opportunity to meet with Steve. Jim had discussions of the many opportunities made available to the students in Laconia inclusive of missed opportunities in the past. It is our hope to open communication and to include programs offered at the student level. CITY HALL: Linda Peary met with the new City Finance Manager to ensure the reports posted to the Board. It was then secured we spent $77,000 last year. T With no further discussion to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 1:06 pm.
