Putnam Fund Meeting March 7, 2023 This meeting was called to order on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 8:45 a.m., held at 45 Beacon Street East, Laconia City Hall, Laconia, NH with the following in attendance: Jim Rogato, Linda Peary, Joanie Mercer, Rich Landry, and Betty Ballantyne. MINUTES: The minutes submitted for February 2023, whereas Linda a motion to accept the minutes as presented with Rich Landry seconded with all in favor. TREASURERS REPORT: Linda reported the balance to be $51,424.31 which included the $2,000.00 owed by Julie Grant along with a check drawn for Meredith Elliott for $750.00 for services rendered in 2022. COLONIAL THEATER UPDATE: Jim has reached out to Nicole still without success in knowing of available dates for 2023. JULIE ACTS: After a group discussion, we have no interest in the Motown that had been offered along with Brian Setzer’s show. We are very interested in the Michael Jackson Tribute managed by Michael with whom we have had many successful performances. Potentially, we see this being a good show for the start of the Fall in September. Jim will reach out to Julie to check for available dates. The price is in the range of the budget sets this past spring. October we discussed having the Rocking Daddios, The Diamonds and Jim’s Swing band with the Diamonds being the lead. We currently do not have the costs of the performance, nor available dates from the Diamond and the Rocking Daddios, and the charge for the performances. November, The Love Dogs are available in November. We are waiting for their cost and availability of the Colonial Theater. GORDON & CYNTHIA MACLEOD along with the Tara Little Dance will perform at Woodside Commons, Taylor Community at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Gordon’s fee is $1,000. The Tara dancer will be given a donation from the Taylor Community as a scholarship for children in need of help with their lessons, equipment and costumes. Linda made a motion to approve the performance, Rich seconded it with all in favor. DAVID S. BRODY, AUTHOR: He will be lecturing on Wednesday, March 29th at 6:30 p.m. to be held at Woodside Commons at the Taylor Community. He will likely be discussing his newest research and book release. MICHAEL WEJCHERT-AUTHOR of Hidden Mountains. Joanie knows the author and people in the mountain rescue. It is still unclear of his speaking engagement history although he is the author of the book Hidden Mountains. Joanie has read it and states how powerfully impacted she was with the read. It is still being discussed at the time of the year along with monies to hire Michael. IMPENDING PUTNAM BOARD MEMBER: This position is available due to Rich retiring at the maturity of his five-year term which expires March 2023. Two people have applied: Stacy Soucy and Brenda Richards. Betty brought back Donna Depoian as a good candidate. She is a retired attorney and accountant who she knows personally and would bring a lot to the table for the board. Betty will reach out to her. She also knows a young man, Keith Styles who currently works at the Bank of New Hampshire in mortgage lending. He is a UNH college graduate in finance and youth development. A 24- year-old who lives in Laconia and wants to get involved in the community. Betty will also reach out to him too! NEW BUSINESS: None NEXT MEETING: Will be held at City Hall on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. With no further business to come before the board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:54 a.m. Respectfully submitted, Betty Ballantyne Laconia Putnam Board 603-630-5531
