CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 12:02 PM by D. Trefethen 2. ROLL CALL Lt. Rich Simmons, Laconia Police Department; Capt. Motorcycle Week Follow-Up (PDF) It was noted by several members of the committee that the new Temporary Traffic Order (TTO) that was put in place on Friday this year (instead of Saturday, the first day of the event) did lead to some confusion. It was the consensus of the committee that this was mainly due to the fact that this was the first year starting on Friday, as people get used to the Friday start of one way traffic/motorcycles only that the issues will resolve. Chief Canfield noted that arrests at this year’s event were minimal but the number of motor vehicle accidents were up. Overall it was a safe event. C. Roffo commented that the Fire Department responded to propane violations by vendors, these were corrected right away. He did note concern about the double parking, there was encroachment into the travel way which could make it difficult for emergency vehicles to get through. W. Anderson reviewed the list of issues, concerns and comments that he provided to the committee. He noted that the vendor delivering the porto-johns was late and with the TTO this area had already been converted to “motorcycles only” by the time they arrived. This can be resolved with the vendor(s). W. Anderson also noted that education to property owners who lease their property to vendors should be given some education at to their responsibility as leasing agent. This includes cleanup and where/how to dispose of trash. D. Trefethen informed the committee that there had been one incident with a patron of the Mount Washington and the use of a handicap space after the area had been converted to motorcycles only. It was noted that the buses for the Mount Washington were able to complete their route and provide service for patrons of the vessel. Public Comment: Jennifer Anderson, Laconia Motorcycle Week Association, addressed the committee. She stated that the preference of the association was not to change the traffic pattern until Saturday, the first day of the event. Jennifer Anderson also asked that the committee consider allowing the sidewalk decals that announce the next year’s motorcycle week be allowed to remain until after the Fourth of July holiday. (It would be the responsibility of the sign company to remove them). Scott Myers, City Manager, addressed the committee. He commented that the issues with the change in the TTO to a Friday start can be remedied with additional communication with the vendors and some flexibility regarding their entrance to setup. Scott Myers also noted that he had numerous communications with the Mount Washington to correct or alleviate concerns. He also noted that the buses were allowed to complete their runs to/from the Mount Washington. 6. ADJOURNMENT With no additional comments or concerns the meeting was adjourned at 12:25PM
