Opening Of Regularly Scheduled Meeting Call to Order Chair of the Lafayette Public Art Committee, Ellen Smith, called the June 10, meeting of the Public Art Committee to order at 7:09pm. The meeting took place at The Starkey Building, 309 S. Public Road, Lafayette, CO 80026. Roll Call Officers in attendance from the Public Art Committee were Chair Ellen Smith and Vice Chair Abeer Tarazi, there is no PAC Secretary. Members Becky Dearing, Ellen Graves, and Kelly Morgenstein were also present. City Public Art Coordinator and Staff Liaison, Stacey Bernstein, was present. Member Pamela Sherrick was absent. City Council Liaison, Kyle Beaulieu was absent. II. Approval Of May 13, 2026, Meeting Minutes Kelly Morgenstein made a motion to approve the meeting minutes from the May 13, 2026, Public Art Committee meeting. Becky Dearing seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken, and the motion was approved unanimously. III. Public Input There were no members of the public present or public input provided to the PAC. IV. Agenda Items A. Kudos to PAC. a. Engage volunteer platform, all PAC members have created a login. Arts & Cultural Resources Director, Rachel Hanson, appreciates the members of the PAC. B. Select New Secretary. a. No one stepped up to serve as Secretary for the PAC. C. Art on the Street Walking Tour a. LCAB and PAC Walking Tour, Saturday, June 13, 9:30am. b. For Wednesday, June 17, Ellen Graves and Becky Dearing will conduct the Walking Tour. D. CatFish Damage. a. Repair Discussion and Decision. i. The estimate for repair is $2,820. ii. The group discussed repairing or deaccessioning the sculpture but could not arrive at a decision. iii. Will table decision to the August meeting. E. Sculpture Pad at W. Emma and S. Public. a. 2026 Expense. i. Stacey ordered two custom steel straps from the fabricator. Total cost will be approximately $800. b. 2027 Expense. i. The work to remove the sculpture, place it at its new location, demo the concrete, and redo the sculpture pad is nearly $8,000. 1. This work will occur early April, before the Art on the Street week so the pad is ready for a new sculpture. F. See & Respond 2026. a. Call Open. i. Stacey asked the Committee to promote the call and encouraged members to create their own responses. b. Workshops. i. Poetry workshop with ZBassSpeaks in August, exact date TBD. ii. We will not offer a photography workshop this year. G. Update on Pocket Park. a. The sculpture pad at the pocket park, located at Kimbark St. and S. Public Road, will be a new Art on the Street location. This will be the 21st sculpture location for Art on the Street. H. Permanent Collection. a. PCC will complete the repairs on Townswoman at the S. Public Road roundabout next week. b. Stacey will ask PCC to assess Let’s Play this year along with Stepping Out. c. Still looking for a location for Humanity. d. Will place Girly Curl by Harold Linke outside, so looking for a location for that work as well. e. The 2026 maintenance and treatment will happen in July. I. PAC Recruitment. a. Fall 2026 Applications. i. Applications open Aug. 24 and close Sept. 18. b. Terms Ending Nov. 30, 2026. i. Kelly Morgenstein’s and Pamela Sherrick’s terms end this year.  ii. Stacey requests that Kelly and Pamela inform the Committee of their intentions at the August meeting. 1. If they want to serve additional terms, they need to apply, but are not required to interview. iii. Three seats open for PAC this fall recruitment period. c. BCC Open House Thursday, August 27, 5-8pm. i. Need Two Volunteers. 1. Abeer will volunteer for the first shift, 5-6:30pm, this includes set-up. 2. Becky will volunteer for the second shift, 6:30-8pm, this includes clean-up. J. ARCD Report. a. Department is preparing for Art Night Out this Friday. b. Added a workshop, Hands, Form, and Story, to the programming for the Black Futures exhibit. This will be a live demonstration by sculptor, Samuel Kumi, on Saturday, June 27, 1-3pm. c. Pride on the Plaza tomorrow. d. Lafayette’s first Juneteenth celebration and programming will be next week. K. LCAB Report. a. The Board is reviewing objectives and outcomes for Amp Your Grant events. b. As there are basically five new members on the Board since January, next week’s meeting will focus on the LCAB grants programs, so everyone is on the same page. L. City Council Liaison Report. a. PCC 2026 Contract completed July 2026 Miscellaneous Other $ - Miscellaneous Other BALANCE $240 $132,410.30 Actuals Total ~3,830 remaining for 2026 Agenda Item: LCAB "Amp" Events – Subcommittee Invitation Background:​ "Amp" events run twice a year (spring and fall) and give LCAB's and the PAC's grantees, as well as any other artists, arts and culture orgs, and interested community members, an extra layer of support beyond what our regular grant cycles provide (i.e., office hours for grant application work). Past events have connected grantees with local funders, run a storytelling workshop, and always built in real time for grantees to network with each other. LCAB plans these in close partnership with ACRD staff, and shapes every topic around what grantees and Lafayette's broader arts and culture community say they actually want or need. “Amp” events are heading into a new chapter. Funding for arts and culture is tighter, but there's also real creative energy in Lafayette right now and a community that wants more of it. LCAB wants the PAC involved in shaping what comes next, not brought in after the plan's already set. The ask:​ LCAB is forming a subcommittee to do this work. Four LCAB volunteers have signed on, and LCAB would like at least one PAC member to join. But if there's more interest, that's welcome too. This subcommittee's job is to land on a direction and strategy for "Amp" events in 2027 and beyond, not to plan the individual events themselves. Joining this subcommittee would mean: ●​ Committing to 1-2 meetings in fall 2026 (in-person or virtual, whatever works) ●​ Bringing ideas about what would make a difference for the communities we serve Next steps:​ No meeting days or times have been set yet. LCAB wants to know who's interested first, then will send out a scheduler to that group to make sure everyone can participate.
