MINUTES
July 21, 2015
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in
the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Cindy Murray, Norm Childress, Dawn Ross and
Ron Shriner Absent: Gary Henriott
Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present.
Mrs. Murray called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Ross moved for approval of the minutes from the July 14, 2015 regular meeting. Mr. Childress
seconded. Passed.
BIDS UNDER ADVISEMENT
Renovation to the Long Center-Roofing
Mrs. Murray stated that this item will remain under advisement.
Renovation to the Long Center-Fire Protection
Mrs. Murray stated that this item will remain under advisement.
NEW BUSINESS
Engineering
Supplemental Agreement #6-Old Romney Road Reconstruction
Jenny Leshney, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of
Supplemental Agreement #6-Old Romney Road Reconstruction with Butler, Fairman & Seufert in an
amount Not To Exceed $38,500.00. This supplement will cover additional engineering related to the
stormwater outfall into the INDOT right-of-way, additional sanitary and water service stubs, design
revisions for the rectangular rapid flashing beacons, and changes by breaking out the trail project from the
original project. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
Economic Development
Professional Services Agreement-City Consultants and Research, LLC
Dennis Carson, Economic Development Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a
Professional Services Agreement with City Consultants and Research for the 2014 Consolidated Annual
Performance Report to report the requirements for the HOME and CDBG funded programs of the

Community Development Department. The project duration will be from July 21 to October 31, 2015.
Alicia Vaughn will be conducting the reporting of this report. Mr. Childress moved to approval. Mrs.
Ross seconded. Passed.
Demolition Permit for 815 Shawnee Avenue
Daniel Walker, Economic Development, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a
Demolition Permit for 815 Shawnee Avenue. The home owner hired Mid-West Structural Engineering to
do an assessment about whether or not the garage is structurally sound. Mid-West and the City of
Lafayette Building Inspector, Scott Dieterle, found that the structure as not sound. Mr. Walker
recommended waiving the 60-day public waiting period. Mr. Walker stated that Dann Keiser, Lafayette
Historic Preservation Officer requested the 60-day waiting period be waived. Mr. Childress moved to
waive the 60-day waiting period. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $2,969,955.51. Mrs.
Murray asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr.
Childress seconded. Passed.
MISCELLANEOUS
Special Event Request-Fall Festival Block Party
Mrs. Murray presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Fall
Festival Block Party to be held on September 13, 2015 from 10:00am-3:30pm on the surrounding streets
of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
Special Event Request for the YWCA “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes”
Mrs. Murray stated that this item will be tabled until clarification can be made regarding the public streets
and sidewalks that may or may not be closed. Mr. Childress moved to table this item. Mrs. Ross
seconded. Tabled.
