BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES July 19, 2016 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Dawn Ross, Norm Childress and Ron Shriner. Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the July 12, 2016 regular meeting. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Permission to Advertise-2016 CDBG Fall Tree Planting Leanne Wells, City Forester, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to Advertise the 2016 CDBG Fall Tree Planting. Ms. Wells stated that this project will be federally funded that includes 84 trees. The publication is set to run on July 22 & July 29, 2016 with a bid opening date on August 9, 2016. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. Permission to Advertise-2016 Kossuth Street Tree Planting Project Ms. Wells presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to Advertise the 2016 Kossuth Street Tree Planting Project. Ms. Wells stated that this project will be grant funded by WREC with a 25% match from the City of Lafayette. The publication is set to run on July 22 & July 29, 2016 with a bid opening date on August 9, 2016. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Utility Service Agreement-Hawthorne Crossing Subdivision Bob Foley, Engineering, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Utility Service Agreement for the Hawthorne Crossing Subdivision with John Scheumann. This subdivision is 150 units with utilities in the amount of $71,623.00. The project is located at the northwest corner of CR 550 East and McCarty Lane and is approximately 12.94 acres. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety July 19, 2016 Page 2 CLAIMS Tim Clary, Deputy Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $1,885,705.36. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-City Wide Night of Worship President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the City Wide Night of Worship to be held on August 5, 2016 from 7:00pm-9:00pm at Riehle Plaza. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed Special Event Request-Boiler Bridge Bash President Henriott stated that this request will be tabled until next meeting. Special Event Request-Light the Night Walk President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Light the Night Walk to be held on September 22, 2016 at 2:00pm until 9:00pm on Park Avenue between South Street and Wallace Avenue. President Henriott stated that the Board made a recommendation to change having Park Avenue completely closed to just removing parking on the west side of Park Avenue instead. President Henriott stated that the requester is aware of the changes made to the request. Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the amended request. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Taxi Cab Permit Police Chief Flannelly presented to the Board and recommended approval of a taxi cab permit for Sampson L. Young. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
