BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES July 11, 2017 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Norm Childress, Cindy Murray and Dawn Ross. Absent: Ron Shriner Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Ross moved for approval of the minutes from the June 27, 2017 regular meeting. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Mr. Childress moved for approval of the minutes from the July 5, 2017 special meeting. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Parks Department Recommendation for Award- Memorial Island, Phase 2 Claudine Laufman, Parks Superintendent, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Recommendation for Award for the Memorial Island, Phase 2 Project with J.R. Kelly Company. The base bid is in the amount of $628,000.00 with an alternate bid in the amount of $1,300.00 for total amount $629,300.00. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Contract- Memorial Island, Phase 2 Mrs. Laufman presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract for the Memorial Island, Phase 2 Project with J.R. Kelly Company in the amount of $629.300.00. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Notice to Proceed- Memorial Island, Phase 2 Mrs. Laufman presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Notice to Proceed for the Memorial Island, Phase 2 Project with J.R. Kelly Company. Work can start on July 11, 2017 with a completion date of October 1, 2017. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety July 11, 2017 Page 2 Economic Development Certificate of Completion-Long Center Renovations (Huston Electric) John Collier, Economic Development, presented to the Board and recommended a Certificate of Completion for the Long Center Renovations with Huston Electric. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Certificate of Completion-Long Center Renovations (RSQ Fire Protection) Mr. Collier presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Certificate of Completion for the Long Center Renovations with RSQ Fire Protection. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Certificate of Completion-Long Center Renovations (Horning Roofing) Mr. Collier presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Certificate of Completion for the Long Center Renovations with Horning Roofing. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Lafayette Housing Authority Release of Mortgage-1937 Greenbush Street, Lafayette Valerie Oakley, Project Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of Mortgage for 1937 Greenbush, Lafayette. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $14,652,489.45. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-Hanna Fest President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Hanna Fest to be held on September 4th, 2017 from 1:00pm-6:00pm at Hanna Center and the surrounding neighborhood. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Fall Fest Block Party President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Cornerstone Baptist Church Fall Fest Block Party to be held on September 10th, 2017 from 10:00am- 3:30pm at the church and the surround neighborhood. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety July 11, 2017 Page 3 Special Event Request-Spark Lafayette/Placemaking Programs Margy Deverall, Economic Development, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Spark Lafayette to be held on every Tuesday from 11:00am-8:00pm starting July 11- October 24, 2017 at Riehle Plaza and possibly the Chase Plaza. Mrs. Deverall gave the Board a brief explanation of the programs available. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
